But honestly, any cycling shoes will work, eg izumo is great!

No. Go to your local bike shop and try on a wide range of shoes. You can fit the Look style cleats to them for the peloton

As an avid cyclist and peloton fanatic, skip the peloton shoes and buy some from a bike shop. You’ll get better quality and comfort this way.

Talk to the sales rep at the store, they’re super helpful in determining the right shoe for you! Happy spinning!
I priced it out and they are only like $5-$10 more than what you can get other places. I thought the convenience of getting them with my bike was worth it.

No, any cycling shoes will do.
I like Tiems! Check em out

You can’t change the cleat on the Tiem from SPD, but you can change the pedal on the Peloton. I think it voids the warranty? I cycle in a studio but I recall this was what I uncovered when I considered purchasing a Peloton.
I do love Tiems as well. Quite comfortable.
They're fine, but not any better than other cycling shoes.
They're not bad, made better if they're comfortable on your foot. But, as others have said, try others on from a shop with good selection. Try at least three different types for reference.
Cycling shoes focus on two key aspects - fit/closure systems, and sole stiffness. The Peloton shoe has a decent closure system (ratchet) and is mid-level flexible, which can be a good thing for those who prefer it but is traditionally viewed as not great because your foot will be flexing on every stroke.
Another aspect for spinning shoes is their breathability. You will be in the same place with limited to no ventilation, therefore something with more mesh and less leather is better. Peloton shoes don't do great here.
Consider width, too, since cycling shoes are traditionally made with narrow lasts. This is really annoying and has plagued the industry for decades, but it is what it is.
All this to say the Peloton shoes aren't bad, but you're not limited to that and there are plenty of options out there. Specialized, Pearl Izumi, Shimano, even Nike and Adidas make good shoes, both spinning specific and that work well on a spinning bike.
Thank you for this! I mountain bike & have a beach cruiser but was not sure how shoes differed from those activities to indoor spinning. This is super helpful info - I was considering some shimano or adidas shoes but have not made it into a peloton store to compare.
Yes, they’re so worth it, I just love them.. you should go for it…
