Are there any cheap hotel/ hostels (<£30 if possible) in central London that I can use to sleep if I need? I mainly wfh but when I commute in, I sometimes finish work too late for it to be worth going home (2+ hr commute). My office is near Oxford street.

Otherwise, what’s the typical cost of weekday lodging in zone 2-3?

Crikey, I admire the conviction but have a candid chat with your line manager. Assuming here that you’ll work from the office two days in a row, hence the need for accommodation? (I.e don’t want to get home at 12/1am and back in for 8/9am). See if they’ll pay for somewhere closeby, they may be more accommodating than you think (pardon the pun)

Yup will definitely try this! Part of the reason I’m asking this is that I want to show my face for the first few months (and then maybe for the first week or so of every project) so that I’m not totally invisible

There’s a hostel called Sandeman Allen house in Bayswater. It’s decent for the night

I find posts like this concerning - OP if this is a lifestyle choice, fine, but why on earth would you be staying at the office that late and not going home? Even if I work late I relocate home in the evening.

I knew a guy who was really cheap.rather than pay for a hotel he would go to a 24 hr gay sauna near Waterloo pay the entry ( like <£20). Go to a private room lock the door and sleep. In the morning would have a shower get changed and head into the office. He claims not to have interacted with the other clientele but who knows. Who cares. A good warm safe nights sleep in London for that price.

funny

There are some nice hostels for about this price

What a life 🥲

I live in Texas and don't pay state income tax.

I'm thinking of applying for a fully remote contract role that pays $50-$70/hr. Based on 2000 hours/year this would be $100k - $140k.

I've heard that independent contractors pay about 30% flat on their income. If I create an LLC, would that income just get taxed at my personal income rate?

Also, since it is an LLC could I then expense my home office and utilities as business expenses? Thanks in advance and would love to hear any thoughts/tips.

I have an offer to join a Tier 2 consulting firm next year (entry level). However, it seems like they have over-hired and they are now pushing the start date back by a few months. Is this something that happens, or will it just be a delay as they say?
