Are there any in house entertainment roles that are particularly good? Netflix is obviously FAANG but I’ve heard the culture is cutthroat. On the other end of the spectrum, heard the traditional TV networks pay terribly. Any other options? What about in house music roles? Is that a thing?

Would jumping to in-house for a ~40% raise, worth it? It’s a software company that seems a bit dated and boring tbh so I’m worried I’d burn myself out but the pay is attractive. Would it be a bad move to leverage the offer to try to get my current agency to even meet me halfway? We’re doing okay financially now and I’ve been there for a year. I like the work and the people but it’s very disorganized which is beyond frustrating. In-house seems more structured but likely less creative.

Those who have returned to a law firm from being in-house - what was your experience like? If you hated a firm the first time, was it better the second time around? I swore I’d never go back, but seeing the newest round of BigLaw raises and salary increases I am genuinely considering it - I’m getting married and planning for kids shortly, and would like to buy a home in our HCOL city, and while I’m not starving on my in-house salary and am fairly frugal, I don’t feel like we have much cushion.

I’ve always heard that being at one of the tech Silicon Valley firms sets you up well for in house positions. Is that true across the board or only for folks there who do ECVC or tech trans work? Been in house for about a year. I just found out that a new hire who has 1-2 less years of experience than me (but will have the same role/title as me) received a compensation package significantly higher than me, mostly due to the market dynamics with law firm associates’ compensation being ratcheted up the past year. Can I ask for an equitable raise mid year? And if so, how? I got rave reviews but an immaterial pay bump (3%) at year end in December.
