Are there any Non profits actively fighting the NeoNazi and KKK movements in America? I'd like to petition for some pro bono work to help the fight in our own little way. Tired of feeling helpless!

Best to make change in the local community, where you can really help change lives. The Nazis get a ton of coverage but they're a tiny group; just 500 for their "national march" in Virginia. That's a tiny fraction of what they'd have attracted just thirty years ago; by helping build diverse community, you can help marginalized them even further.

It isn't only channels where non-Nazis are behind, it's physical presence and engagement. Major agency urban centers are little bubbles, and there is often contempt for rural areas and "flyover country." By abandoning engagement and participation in those areas, small-l liberal culture has abandoned them to the far right, who have moved in and courted voters who don't like being looked down upon with a softer, more palatable version of historic nastiness.

The agency people need to get out of the NYC, Chicago, and LA bubbles and engage local communities across the country in order to truly move the needle.

They're not that tiny. Corey Stewart, a thinly veiled white nationalist, just barely lost the VA primaries in June and he's running for VA senate(I think?) again in 2018. Even if they aren't marching or identifying as nazis, nazi-aligned mentality is more widespread than we like to admit. Not to mention a step toward racism goes much farther than a step away from it - I know I'm late to the game but I just heard about Dr. Tatum's moving walkway and smog analogies yesterday (please look it up if you know what I'm talking about). Regardless, I'm feeling like moving in "traditional" channels is too slow and frankly a step behind the white nationalist movement. They've organized and mobilized online years ago while we're talking about petitioning our individual agencies to do pro bono work that we legally aren't allowed to share with each other in the meantime so that our companies can each submit to awards for their own credit afterward. I guess all that's to say that I'm voting for using our skills through non-"traditional" channels.

^ Yes, and No at the same time. Also, SAS1 makes a larger and very valid point, re- read their second comment. And, don't be naive that they're only 500!!! The point is, many more people sympathize with their views, not all of their views, but have you not watched House of Cards latest season? Do you think there are no secret racist societies etc that aim to keep white rich dudes in power in private business and in government? Have you not heard of the Koch brothers? And so on. Plenty of mainstream regular folks are closeted racists and finance racist causes

But how does one actively fight racists? This is an education thing, right? Does anyone know the answer to that question?

Comparing white terrorism now to 60 years ago is a false equivalent. There was no internet then, a less fractured white nationalist landscape, etc. The movement intentionally went online and underground. I used the term nazi liberally, my mistake. But downplaying racism in America today by counting how many white hoods you see on the streets compared to the height of the KKK is not doing us any favors. And that's just the extremist views...unconscious bias is just as harmful, if not more. Anyway, why are we debating the scope of the problem? I assume we all agree that it's too large.

^Word! I'm a foreigner in NYC living for 20 years and counting in the U.S., around northeast, and even I know that!! Nothing on here makes a difference, liberal ideas and people preaching and teaching them on the ground in rural and middle America are needed for it to stick

Nazis aren't thriving in any sense, SAS1. 60 years ago, an event like Charlottesville would have attracted tens of thousands of people from across the country. This time it was around 500. You could attract more people to a local Babylon 5 convention.

Our company donated to the victims from Charlottesville. It's a nice start.

At what point do you begin to feel numb (if ever) when you’re done trial and prepping for another trial in a span of 3 months, while mains full caseload of other active litigation cases? Should I be worried that I’m going from engaged and stress to numb and slightly indifferent? Or is this what it feels like to power through? I can’t gauge it anymore?
