I guess the grass is greener on the other side. I live with my parents and sister and I long for some alone time. My mom says I don’t talk to her, so she is mad and not talking to me. I’m teaching during the day and doing my college classes online afterwards, what do you want me to do?!🤷🏻‍♀️ My sister straight out told me she hates living with us and if she could she’d leave us behind for good. I would love to be on my own, but I wouldn’t disown everyone. My dad was forcibly retired and now doesn’t know what to do with himself. My mom is on-call at work. Tensions are high in our house. If I try to bring it up, say we need to talk about what we’re feeling, all hell breaks loose. It is getting to me, but I’m just going to do like we always do in this family, keep it inside and keep on keeping on. I hope you can find a way to not feel alone. Maybe you can do some zoom hangouts with friends? I know I feel better after having one. My friends and I started a WhatsApp group at the beginning of the pandemic where we “talk” almost daily. I think I would be worse off if it wasn’t for them. Take care. Sending you lots of love!

Thank you for sharing something so personal. For a second I thought I had posted more information. Your life is so similar to mine. I am in the process of moving on with my own life. In January I gave myself until the end of this school year to get everything done. My college courses are well on their way and I am getting all their social security, Medicare, and other things worked out. No matter how much they complain that I’m not dedicating more time to their (fill in the blank) it is always me who they want doing it. Again, thank you for your kindness. It means so much to me that you care.

I spend a lot of time sitting on the porch with my elderly aunt watching cars 🚗 and kids in the neighborhood, it’s hilarious some of the things we see and laugh about, that’s what keep me going so I am Not so lonely, when I go inside I don’t focus on being home alone! Preparing for Thanksgiving and seeing my daughter.

I’m in the same boat as you. At this point, meeting new people isn’t really an option. I’ve been focusing more on nurturing the relationships I have with my family and friends. I had a kid in my class test positive this week, so it’s going to be a solo thanksgiving this year 😞 Living alone during this time is definitely tough.

like

I am solo for Thanksgiving as well. I cancelled my family’s plans to come visit me after the cases began increasing again. You’re not alone. ❤️❤️❤️

Single with my three kids. My two eldest are grown so they are in and out and going to work, but my little one (7) is sitting here learning right next to me. Some mom jumped down my throat because she could “hear my kids” during class and I was not very nice in response, you know, since she’s sitting there next to her 10th grader. How do I meet people? Ha Ha. To be honest though, I am on some dating sites but dudes on there are not playing Covid safely and they aren’t worth dying for.

I live alone and I’m single. Lol! All of my family is nearly 1000 miles away. Thank goodness for technology.

I'm single, but my 26 year old daughter lives with me. We basically never see each other unless we bump into one another in the kitchen. Lol

Single, live alone, and introverted, so I enjoy the quiet of being by myself. But quarantine got to be a bit much even for me.

I agree!

It’s not the same, but it’s just my 11 year old and myself. It is lonely.

This is me—just me & my dog. I have to go in to work and resent the danger my district is willing to put us teachers in—but at the same time, I’m grateful for the human interaction. I’m an introvert and generally enjoy my own company, but those quarantine months were tough even for me. I think I’ve even been inspired to start online dating again just to meet some new and different people!

like

I have my dog. I text and call family. Just used to being alone and I try to get out and ride around a little with my dog. I play mobile games and interact with people that way also. I also watch TV and listen to music.

This is kinda dumb but I listen to a lot of a Audiobooks or music or just run the TV in the background. Hearing other voices makes it feel less lonely. I also started calling over texting so that I had a reason to talk, because if you spend the whole day alone I find I don't say anything. Pets are an excellent idea if you can have one where you live.

I think you gave good ideas. You seem to be doing good. I can chat if interested

I joined consulting before covid and really enjoyed the lifestyle (travel, events, socializing, afterworks). I’m young and it was a lot of fun. Now this lifestyle has been gone for two years and the only lifestyle is teams calls. I feel..bored? But bored is not the word. What do y’all do outside of work, during the week? My weekends are fun but my week is just work and teams calls… I’m 22 and I don’t wanna stay at home all day!!!! I wanna see the world
