Anyone from Skadden LA here- precisely M&A/PE group? I was wondering what was the culture there and what realistically associates have been billing in 2020-2021. I read that an associate died of a heart attack. Any insight would be appreciated before I think about moving to LA.

Technically, if you are rich enough, isn’t self-insurance the best option? Insurance companies have to make money by taking in more in premiums than paying out in claims, so on average the customer is losing money and has a negative (albeit stable) NPV on their insurance money. But if you had enough money to tolerate the risk of a unexpectedly high expense, wouldn’t it be better to not pay for the insurance?

When can a dev finally say I am a senior dev or a potential to become lead, say you don't get affirmation from your mgmt or seniors as you see no growth in this company anymore, at what point I can myself recognise about myself?
