Unless you’re wealthy, would recommend getting laid off vs. leaving. You’ll probably get a severance and may even get benefits coverage for a few months after. Plus you never know how long it’ll take to find another job.
Oh yeah I meant securing a new job before quitting, not quitting without a new one lined up.
I just got laid off last week after eight years with my company. They were bought by a larger company and they trimmed two senior Directors to make more on the deal. I wanted to leave but I was so overwhelmed with work that I had almost no free time to look. Now I can go on vacation without worrying about work and I have six months severance. But I still worry about finding a role that is what I want in that time, TBH.
Be proactive and look for a new job, you sound ready for it any way
I'm sure this varies by situation, but if you get laid off you get unemployment. Definitely factor that into the equation.
