Are there any US citizens who successfully moved to the UK without a company transfer? Would love to hear about how you went about finding a job, since I’ve been unsuccessful in getting a transfer, and all the recruiters I’ve been speaking from other companies keep telling me that a transfer is my only hope of getting a job in the UK

I’m Canadian and was on H1B in US. No MBA, but with experience in Strategy consulting. Moved into an industry strategy role on a Skilled Worker Visa.

Everyone told me the best way would be to do a transfer or jump to another consulting firm. I entertained the idea briefly, but was just completely over consulting.

The role I eventually took was through a recruiter. Can’t say the process was easy, but I was ALL IN. Made the decision that I was moving no matter what, and made it happen. End to end it took 2.5 months of focused recruiting (while working), and about 80 calls/interviews.

We have lots of vacancies and no people to fill them in the UK across industries. Don't think internal transfer is the only route.

When submitting resignation do you pro rate the number of holiday days you would have accrued? I have leave booked around time of resignation (of which 5 days is PY roll over) so wondering if I can add an additional 2 days leave to the date from which I'm counting back 30 days from ie 20 days normal notice 5 days PTO (starts Thursday) puts me 27 days post submitting notice (wed). Could I add 27/365x 25 day holiday allowance = 2 extra days of leave I can add.

Hi, we're searching for a job in HR for my wife. She's an MBA from India and has 10 years of work experiences across various HR roles in FMCG and Tech. Her last role was a HR BP and India site lead for a US based semiconductor major.
Is CIPD necessary to get a comparable role in the UK? While we undersrand it's a new market, would she necessarily need to start from a basic role again? It's difficult to balance studies, work and manage a 2 y.o. Any pointers or job openings would be appreciated.
