Are there any work accommodations or benefits that you have at your company that help you to be productive with your ADHD? For example, having your desk away from foot traffic? What about those who work from home? Trying to figure out what might be helpful accommodations for those of us who are neuro spicy.

When I was in the office, living in a cubicle. There were a few things that I would do to be more productive
• on my breaks I would walk outside
• I use a timer and work in sessions of 30-45 mins to prevent "side quests"
• I would wear noise canceling headphones and listen to binaural beats.
I also set up my home office to be as close to my work office as possible (no cubicle) and use the same productivity tactics.

But now "that you know you will be distracted" on your way to complete mission you can lookout for the distraction stop yourself and regroup. You won't catch yourself everytime but enough to keep moving forward.

I love that term "neuro spicy"! 😸

Same here! Makes me feel not so bad about my weird dysfunctional ADHD(Inattentive) self 😜

I have my own (small) office so I am able to close my door when I need to focus and avoid distractions. I'm not sure how I'd be if I had to work from home. I'd probably struggle with that, since there's less structure and so much to pull your attention away.

Thank you!

I try to always organize my desk to lessen the possibility of being distracted. I also put my phone in a DND mode. That's all for me.

Good Morning, Beautiful People!

I'm currently a Staffing Specialist, very early in my career (9months). My long term goal is to become a Generalist. I feel fairly confident in my role and after much advice from you all, was able to have a conversation with my boss about pushing my SHRM-CP test to next Spring.

My new question is, in your opinion, what facet of the industry should I put focus on next (i.e. pay/compensation, benefits analysis, employee and labor law, etc...)?

Hi Fishes,
I am really looking for some serious advice to cope up with a cracked tailbone. I broke mine during a horse riding incident.

Now, I am getting seriously overweight, in fact, on the verge of getting obese, and this injury right now is pretty much killing the 2022 dream.

I do walk right now, oddly at a slow pace, for about 3-4 km each day. If there any kind of strength training I can introduce in my regimen to err not feel all so depressed with the way I am in for.

I was recently (in April) fired from a good nursing position that I was at for 5 years. I reached out to my old ADON to get some information on where we had our vaccinations from and she told me that I should come back and the administrator that I had issues with is gone. Is this something I should even consider? I miss my patients and some of my coworkers and the pay is better, but I don't feel like I would really be welcome to come back.

My company is adopting Scrum and hiring a bunch of agile coaches to assist with sprints. We got assigned our agile coach that'll be starting soon.

I read a description of what this role is supposed to be for and it sounds like they'll be leading Scrum ceremonies. So they run the planning meeting, the retrospective and daily stand ups. Up to now, I've been doing those and it's taken a total of like 2 hours a week of my time.

What on earth do agile coaches do with the other 95% of their time?

I’ve taken Adderall for several years & it has helped a lot for my ADHD. However, recently I have been increasingly overwhelmed with balancing work, school, & home life. I am really struggling to manage my symptoms even while taking the maximum ER dosage. I recently started taking Strattera as well, but haven’t noticed much improvement. My doctor has suggested switching to Vyvanse instead. What are your thoughts on Vyvanse vs Adderall? Has anyone has had more success with it?

Looking for advice/input:

I’ve dealt with ADHD my entire life, although was just diagnosed last year. Throughout my career (assurance>industry>consulting), I’ve been able to “outwork” everyone else in the office to counter the lack of focus and other associated faux pas associated with the disorder. Recently have hot a point where I can’t put in the hours (3 yo/fam), and my work has taken a major hit. Anyone in consulting/assurance have any methods for managing this when it comes to PM duties?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?
