Does AFS give out bonuses?
I have two offers:
-$165k with a City of New York agency
-$130k plus $5k signing bonus with EY Gps
I feel ho-hum about the government job because I’ve been doing it for so long, and also the option for hybrid work is uncertain. But the salary and benefits are obviously appealing.
Any thoughts, especially from those in private consulting?
We're ramping up hiring for cleared personnel. For context, I'm a data scientist in MS Federal with 6 YOE and my TC is around $260k. Not crazy, but not bad.
I've seen PM roles get hired for above $150k easily.
Microsoft stood up a new org a year back that exclusively focuses on US Federal customers.
AWS and MSFT will. Maybe even salesforce because tableau has a couple of cleared roles. Other than that it will be contract dependent.
You might be better off looking at smaller firms. They could get to that TC but it would be at the expense of future growth and stability.

Why do you think non technical people are worth $150k in the government space?
When I was at Deloitte we were paying $165k for non technical SAP.
Also, McKinsey gets lots of govt contracts and they pay more than $155k lol
Look at clearedjobs.com. Lots of DC-area firms will pay for your skills and clearance.
OP, check out Rebellion Defense, Primer AI, and data robot. Not sure if you’ll get 150k but who knows.
Splunk pays well (from what I hear) and may have some non-technical roles.
Palantir or snowflake?
Deloitte
DataRobot is also getting in the cleared space. I’ve interviewed with them before for a customer success role. Definitely over 150k TC
I had an ok experience, but the story about them raising funds while laying off people in the US was not okay with me.
RedHat is another company that should be mentioned. Tableau also has cleared roles.
Absolutely!
Boeing, Lockheed, SpaceX, Microsoft even Facebook has a few positions that require a TS.
I’m a TS/SCI with poly as well.
