Dope spot. People need to get over themselves
Cmon. Really?
I did not care for it. To me it overreached and vilified an entire gender on a number of questionable levels. I can see why it has over 1,000,000 dislikes on Youtube. Which is no small group. That has to be some kinda record.
But, hey, it got a bunch of PR buzz for the brand so awesome.
It made me appreciate Fearless Girl more. That was tasteful and not nearly as heavy-handed.
Wasn’t it for State Street Global Advisory Consultancy!
I'm a man and find it very inspiring. Unfortunately, I am sure some men are mad at it. Trump-supporting kind of men most likely.
@digitas1 that’s in the past, no? Isn’t this spot a step to show that they want to right these wrongs? In theory, anyway.
SAD1, agree that the past never stops mattering, but not in the way you describe. We shouldn't forget what people/entities have done, but that doesn't mean they can't change their point of view, broaden their thinking, strive to do better, or redeem themselves. And when they do, and it is a sincere change, they should at least be given the opportunity to prove themselves. . The "leopard never changes its spots" thinking is tacitly unfair and gives no one any reason to change much of anything. If that's how people think, why would anyone ever try to right their wrongs?
A small group of the worst people, and when you see anyone reference “look how many dislikes it got on YouTube!!!”, remember that same group of awful people are very good at gaming the system.
I wish, but it’s our own homegrown assholes.
Bad ad.
Good stance.
Yeah. Can’t we just agree that the ad is pretty blah?
I think there’s a legitimate argument to be made about disingenuous brands paying lip service to social justice.
Look up “Gillette Racing Girls” to see how they shouldn’t be the company to promote this message. They disgustingly sexualize and objectify women at sponsored events. They don’t care about feminism at all
If you don’t think that people/companies can grow and change then you’d be supporting a thousand brands with awful ideologies every day. Why use a past “mistake” as a reason a company can’t grow with the times?
IMHO, most men see this ad and are like, hmm, okay, Gillette is getting in the social game, you're right those bastards that commit these toxic characteristics shouldn't, then we shrug and go on living our lives.
Then you have the men that see this as a political issue, they're are sick of habitually being reminded that some men are bad amigos, thus overreact, become ridiculously vocal and are mean, just mean
I also have a lot of views on the women and the way they are reacting - some good, some bad, but im not in the mood to get eviscerated.

(Yes, i know the grammar is terrible, try to get past it)
Those who are offended are missing the point. The ad is not suggesting that all men are like that, they're suggesting that men can do better by being on the other side of the argument - don't just pretend it's not happening...take a stance, teach your children better and stop your friends when their 'jokes' are underlyingly sexist. This is not all average men vs. bad men. This is the right side vs. the wrong side.
Of course it’s a vocal minority, but the way people are acting it’s as if 90% of men are “incels” seething with rage at this advert, ready to go out and misogynise the next female they see and get a high-five for doing so.
I’m not offended
Hard to jump from cheap (but overpriced) disposable shavers to male virtuosity in one leap
Message is good, the messenger not so much, pretty ingenuous. Don’t think it is an ‘all men’ kind of thing but can see how it can be taken that way and those who do take it that way, it’s kind of revealing of their own attitude.
I reckon this made more of an impact than Fearless girl. No one here even knew fearless girl(which might say more the place).
Like the stance. Like the periphery activity. Hope they follow it up with a better ad. But it’s infinitely better than what they have been carpet bombing society with before.
I wasn’t offended by it, it’s just a lame commercial. Virtue signaling is cheap creative.
Someone looked into and saw the guy making demands to Gillette for an apology had like maybe 140 followers, but the freaking BBC ran with it and legitimized a loud misogynistic minority.
Well since quoting a few random tweets is enough to form the crux of many news stories these days, I guess it’s par for the course.
🤔
^Yeah but it’s a cheap plastic shaver that’s the brand messenger so the message rings hollow
A cheap plastic shaver with a very large audience and therefore a voice to use for the better
Doesn’t Gillette charge more for the female version of the same razors. Is that not also sexist? Doesn’t negate the great points in the ad, but one’s side of the street should be clean before one gets on their high horse. They should start with their own sexism, make a change and then lead by example. Otherwise, they’re just coopting the movement for their own selfish gain.
