I name dropped. As long as the transaction is public information, who cares?

I still don’t see the big deal. If it was a huge merger, clearly the company needed to engage advisors. Who cares if they know PwC was involved? If they start asking questions about non-public information then shut it down but I don’t think the name drop is a problem.

Never say the name. You can give clues, but never a definite.

I don’t think names matter - when I’m interviewing, I’m interested in industry and what specifically you were exposed to but the client doesn’t really impress me. I’m almost more impressed if you’re able to intelligently talk about your experience in a meaningful way without leaning on a name.

I don’t think it’s a big deal if it’s public. If you have an audit client, we’ll, that’s fairly public. Or if the deal was in the papers, then that’s pretty public. (Not that the accounting firm gets any credit, only the bankers and law firms).

like

If it’s public then go for it. If it’s private just give details like revenue and explain what you did

It is fine to name drop. Just can’t state facts about transactions, figures, etc.

Applying for a couple of things and randomly decided to google myself to see what recruiters might see. Had helped a friend out way way back with a school project and came across her blog post about it on her personal website in which she says the reason she asked me to help is because she trusted my opinion since I am a “harsh critic.” I think she meant keen critic or that this was supposed to be a positive but to me, this reads as an insult (continued in comments)

What’s your next move, if any? I had three interviews at the end of August (obtained outside of their normal recruiting process) with an AmLaw 100 firm for an associate job. The managing partner was up front with me that they are trying to gauge needs and that they need a month or two for something else to shake out. This was not a clear blowoff, in context. How/when do I show continued interest/remind them I exist politely/avoid hurting my odds? Assume I’m not delusional.

I’m an immigrant with H1B. Been wanting to get out of my firm so badly but every time I apply outside, I start getting dragged into work at my current firm.I was going through some pretty rigorous interviews (I failed them) and have been in a slump since. Meanwhile my current firm keeps dumping work on me and I can’t find the time to apply outside. Anyone been through something similar? I’m losing hope. The politics is also so toxic, they started screwing me over since my last performance review.
