Are we at the point yet where class of 21 can lateral without there being red flags for “leaving too early”? If not, how much longer?

One of our first years took a month off and then gave notice recently. Definitely not too early

If it’s a clear lateral up, shouldn’t be an issue. If it’s to a similar firm, people will wonder why. I’ve seen plenty of ppl hired in similar timing (especially for the class of 2020 during 2021), but it will matter a bunch on your personal circumstance.

Agree with this. What (and where) are you looking for, OP?

Just lateraled as a 2021 grad. The “why now / why us” questions will definitely come up, so be prepared to answer with specificity. But I would say outside of current economic conditions, timing-wise it is no longer “too early.”

Yes, but also know someone who didn’t and nabbed a lateral position as well.

Fall for a Jan 2023 start is ideal probably.

Yeah just about

As a first year, I started in September, interviewed in May and started a new job in August. I was making a midlaw to biglaw plus geographic move so easy narrative. But not too early.

Why do you want to lateral so soon? Grass is not always greener.

You’re right in a sense. In a recent 7 month window, I bounced across three firms. Left Firm 1 for Firm 2 hoping for better work and more prestige. It was a nightmare and at the time thinking the grass was greener was the biggest mistake of my professional career. I left Firm 2 after 6 months to a similarly-situated firm. Firm 3 is a dream job (as far as big law goes), and the grass is most definitely greener here than Firm 1 or Firm 2. I landed in greener pastures, just had to take a detour. Moral of the story - there’s most definitely greener grass, but you have to be willing to find it.

I lateraled up as a c/o 2021 recently. Used a recruiter FWIW. Took a while to get an interview but ended up getting hired 2 wks after my screener

Must be - my recruiting emails and calls are ramping up.

How much do you tip heb grocery delivery drivers? I was tipping 20% of my grocery bill and then someone said that’s a lot considering they do not do the shopping and it is about a 10 min drive. I spend about $100-$150 on groceries. I always meet them downstairs so they are never hauling things up to my apartment. Continuing tipping 20% of total or flat rate each time? And if so, how much? $10? More?

I am cutting out dairy, gluten and sugar for the next ~6 weeks as an experiment to prove or disprove some of my hypotheses abt my health (high level: that dairy and sugar are awful for my skin, mood and energy levels but that gluten is fine).

Will employer likely see the email?
