Are you selling stocks now? I’ve been averaging down on some stocks and playing really safe with things like AAPL, MSFT, QQQ, NVDA, AVGO but I’ve stopped buying all together for the past 2 weeks. Unsure if we are close to a bottom but I can’t keep burning money in this market. I’m trying to think long term and don’t want to sell but feel weird just holding all the positions that I have and not even logging into my brokerage account to make trades at all.

If you were actually thinking long term, you would keep buying when you can. Unless you need the money soon, you should not care and hope to buy as cheap as you can. If you need the money soon you should not be investing it. Not sure I would call your investments really safe either

Based on your post it sounds like you can’t handle the volatility actually. You appear worried about the market going down and are trying to time the market. I could be misreading that though. Honestly if you are buying a house in a couple years you may want to think about keeping the money safer and not investing. Just for reference my brokerage account is all ITOT and IXUS.

Also, I just looked at what you choose to buy and holy crap talk about concentration risk lol. Not that it won't necessarily lead to decent returns but not advisable to pretty much just buy tech

To be blunt investing in individual funds and securities and being successful (defining successful as beating s&p etf which has diversified risk and low cost options) over the long term is hard to do unless you have a decent amount of knowledge/skills. Only you know your skill level, but if you honestly don't feel confident in your investment choices I usually would recommend buying the lowest cost reputable S&P etf and holding for long term.

You probably shouldn’t be logging into your brokerage account weekly anyway.

First time investor and trying to do tax filing. If you bought the same coin or stock at 100 and then next day at 200 (cost basis 150 per share/coin is), and your investment goes up to 600, (300 per share/coin) and you sell only one share/coin and receive 300, does that still create taxable event or is it considered just taking out your principal investment amount until you sell more than 300? Also is transferring coin from one wallet to another a taxable event or considered selling/buying?

I have $30k in two old 401ks with previous employers I need to move. Thinking I’ll just sell out of the mediocre funds they are in and put it all into ETFs with fidelity or other low cost broker. Is this a good investing mindset - been wanting to buy AMZN, MSFT, TSLA, and GOOG, but keep waiting for them to be more affordable(yes I missed the dip), while their price just keeps steadily rising to/past all times highs. But these are companies I believe in long term. And Time in Market vs Timing the Market. So should I just buy them now based on their future potential value as opposed to waiting to try to get a discount that no one know if/when will ever come?
