Are you working in a SCIF? Are you still required to go to the work site? Are you able to do any work from home?

SCIF. Moving to minimum manning and on call to go to site. We've transitioned most of our team to unclass supporting work by leveraging our firm's dev environment. Client has approved this so everyone is billable. Our firm leadership really went to bat for us to get contact changes approved and folks equipped to WFH.

Yes working in a SCIF. Agency went to staggered staffing. Home until the 30th.

like

Yes. But not at the client office, so still going into work every day. No split team here. Spouse also works in a SCIF. We’re splitting hours during the day to keep kids home. Not sure how long we’ll be able to keep this up, it’s exhausting. Really wish my company would come through with some extra PTO for those of us still going in everyday to give us some time to deal with situations at home. A few hours would go a long way right now.

like

Yes going in everyday - The work is not mission essential.

IC is a special case. You have to work if telework is not an option within your contract. So you had to wait until your client and contracts office made their decision.

I've heard that each agency responded differently to this. How's did everyone vary?

like

Not in a SCIF but in an environment where we can’t bring our laptops in and all work must be done on the client computers/ network/can’t take the work home. They have enabled a policy for some of us to work from home because people can access their info through O365 but I personally can’t because I need to use Tableau...😥

SCIF. Client made the call last night for all except mission essential to dip.

They aren’t worried about utilization anymore this is a crazy circumstance. Also IC is special case. We were exempt from any emails that went out about COVID.

My LO has an infection with high fever and my husband and I have been WFH all week to take care of her. Even though the infection is not contagious, it’s instructed by our pediatrician that she cannot go back to daycare until she’s fever free without any medication for 24h. My husband has been antsy to go back to work and has informed me that he absolutely has to go back tomorrow no matter what and we should just send her back to daycare with a dose of Motrin in the morning.

I’ve been told that I’m going to be teaching “in person” on Dec 2. We have been Remote since March 13th. Just the “high needs SPED and ELL”will be in class. I have 2 kids out of my 6-sub-separate developmentally delayed students and the ELL teacher will have 3 out of her 14. We will both be in separate classrooms and the adults will change-not the kids- we share one student. I was told if we are at least 8 ft apart the students can take off their masks... anyone else hear this?

Confession - I don't want to go back to office. I'm happy working from home and find no solid reason in stepping back. I hope the flexi work culture allows permanent WFH - I don't have a "good enough" reason, but I don't want to go (isn't this good enough?) It's been 1.5 years now, too comfortable to step out from my PJs to jeans.

I'm renting co-working space for a remote job in a building specializing in providing startups with dynamically sized workspace. Our county, city, and the building owners themselves all have mask mandates in place for individuals regardless of vax status. I've reported most of the people on the floor to the building admin for violating the mandates multiple times. How many more until I should escalate to the city?

So my roommate has been staying elsewhere since we began quarantining and has been returning intermittently. Roommate has been paying half the electricity bill, which I have felt weird even charging for, but my friends have insisted that it is still both our responsibilities. Given WFH is permanent as of now, the electricity has been a bit higher with me home for the 10 hours I’d normally be gone. And with summer approaching, AC is going to double that cost. Do I still keep charging half? AITA?

I recently met someone in another country where I’m working remote. He asked me to be his girlfriend but I’m moving in about a month. He doesn’t want to do distance unless I move back (which is an option with remote work, but visas are tricky). I really like him but don’t know if I’d be able to move back here between work/borders/etc. Do I keep seeing him and just try to enjoy the now? A part of me just feels so sad about leaving and breaking up. Idk if it’s worth it.

I’m a 2nd year civil litigation associate at a mid-sized firm in south Florida. My dream has always been to go in house but was dissuaded by law school professors telling me not to. I’m at a crossroads now because I’m OVER the billing, but my boss and direct team is quite possibly the most amazing and supportive group. My boss is always willing to let us work remote or take vacations. My question is, is the grass greener on the other side? Should I go in house now or wait another 3 years?

Anyone work at UHY? What's the culture like? How are the hours in busy season /non busy season? Do you work from home at all? I know they are back in the office. What's the dress code (I'm used to jeans and a golf shirt lmao)? Do the managers welcome new methods of preparing returns? Are they afraid of tech / make you prove out your formulas?
