Can a HEDSIS auditor tell me about the position?
As far as catching COVID at work your WC claim will be denied if you do not wear your mask
I don't see what's wrong about the mask protocol. It is to ensure that you are safe and that you don't further spread it anywhere else. COVID is still out there. It's not futile because the virus can spread more rapidly in closed environments. I wear them diligently.
I work in our administrative offices, and we won’t wear them. In our clinics, the MAs at the front desk still do wear them. I think it comes down to what management wants. If they are sticklers for the rules, then they will follow what the health department dictates (CDPH here in California)
Want to see let her rip through hospitals w/o mask mandates? Or other LTCFs? I work in Florida and it’s atrocious. Be better
Not currently working in a patient-facing environment, but my personal doctor's office is still strictly requiring it. I don't get it either. Is this going to be forever???
Don’t like it go to a doctor that doesn’t have best practices.
In my view, this is about relative risk. If you are working in an older building, with old style ventilation systems and windows that don't open- your risk of exposure remains high.
R values ( transmissability rates) of the latest variants are much higher than many common viruses.
Clientele who come to medical settings are often more vulnerable to worse outcomes when exposed to any virus .
Also, some of the people around you are true Typhoid Marys.
For instance, I work with hundreds of patients who live in facilities built decades ago and not suited to real mitigation practices. They have all worked to cobble together best practices to minimize transmission. But many facilities still get an F at this. Only One facility I go to ever set up access to running water for hand washing prior to putting on masks/gloves etc before exposure to contaminated environments where known COVID positive patients are in isolation.
Do you really want to be within 3 feet of me while I go about my workday, adhering to the facilities available to me?
Relatively, I am conscientious and follow best practices wherever I can. But what about the next person ?
Is it forever? Maybe.
We are still strict when it comes to wearing facemasks. It is for our own safety as well.
I’m going to be biased here but if you are in a healthcare building or facility with even the potential that you could spread a case (many are asx) to an immunocompromised patient, they should be in place. If you don’t like it gtfo of healthcare. We protect patients.
