Are your kids actually learning stuff on Zoom? How are schools doing exams? I can barely pay attention to a Netflix movie

I’d say my kid is learning. Probably about 50%of what she’d get in school. Math seems to keep pace, but history and science are struggling. Her school does a lot of projects (science lab and maker space) and that’s not happening. And clubs for enrichment and leaders are not happening. It’s a swanky super academic private school tho so I suspect she’s getting better service than many kids as they have time and resources and teachers have a lighter workload than public schools. And the kids are motivated. But, paying 50k for half day of zoom does just about put a fine point in the ridiculousness of life rn for me.

You’re paying for the most expensive streaming service ever - Have you checked out the science documentaries on Netflix? Only $11.99/month

My eldest goes to a private Montessori school, and the school has done an excellent job keeping her engaged. She has two zoom classes a day, assigned core work in the mornings (math, grammar, reading analysis, etc), and science/geography/cultural projects in the afternoon. While she has 3 teachers, one of her teachers has taken the lead in teaching most classes, and he is super effective even over zoom. I give him nearly all the credit for making it work. My middle child goes to public school (to attend a special program they have there that's right for her). Those teachers are half assing it at best. I have her sit in on the afternoon lessons of the eldest. My youngest was just getting started in pre-school (she's only 2) at a different Montessori school, and then the school shut for coronavirus. They have not attempted to do any online learning, nor have they asked for tuition.
