as a consultant what are some resources to look into prior to chatting with HH? starting to explore the switch but want to set myself up for success first

These conversations are mostly quite basic. Just try to sound like you know what you’re talking about. But also be friendly, respectful and normal. Have a story of what you have done and how that’s relevant to buyside and why you want to make the switch.

Understand broadly where you want to sit in terms of sector and early stage vs last stage. Fine to be open minded but some level of focus shows you’ve done your research and help preparing for and narrowing down on relevant opportunities.

For this, I would just go through websites of different funds, understand what people do at these funds / different stages / etc. Use different forums like this one.

Then there are things like financial modelling / LBO courses etc but before jumping into that it’s worth doing the pre work to see how relevant it is (eg different applying for blackstone buyout vs a VC fund). If anything technical comes up with HH, it would be something like a a super easy paper LBO, answering basic accounting questions (what happens to the statements if D&A goes up by 10 etc) and talking about investment trends and ideas

Depends on the type of switch you're looking to make but I would just stay abreast with financial news and trends and maybe look into getting paid access to higher level reports

Hi Fishes,

I got an offer letter from Mindtree before but they did not meet my salary expectations - hence after informing the recruitment HR i let the offer expire as she promised that she will be sending me another offer soon.

Till last Friday the status of offer was Offer Released and now from Saturday it is Offer in Progress.

Is she working on my revised offer letter ?

Got an offer to work at a boutique PE fund as an intern for the next few months. The role is however unpaid and the fund is new.

For some background, I’m going to be starting at a T-2 firm doing CDD for PE funds in January. Wondering if getting this kind of experience looks good when I apply to analyst roles 1-2 years out? Don’t want to work without getting paid unless the experience is valuable. Would love any perspective on this.
