As a first generation college graduate, first one to land a job in Corp. I’m 25 and I feel like there is SO much I still don’t know. Any good book recommendations/youtubers/podcasts that helps navigate this?

I will teach you to be rich by Ramit Sethi, arrogant title but very practical steps on what to do with your money from budgeting to investing The millionaire next door by Thomas Stanley and William Danko, now that you’re making some money, its helpful to read how actual millionaires operate vs ppl in high earning careers that quite remarkably, may still live paycheck to paycheck Both are my favs! Sure there are plenty more. If you like Ramit Sethi, he has blogs, is featured on podcasts as ways to learn more Also the personal finance bowl on here

Bravo for your success to date! And for asking this question. I was in a similar boat at your age. Start with the books ago, and once you’re done with those, join the personal finance bowl (I wouldn’t start with the bowl though. A lot of ppl there presume others have somewhat strong understanding of finances and it can be intimidating).

Similar background to you, luckily I feel like I have a pretty good handle on these topics. My advice is to read multiple sources and not follow one single persons advice. There are a few reasons, 1) there are a lot of nuances and even though I felt like I understood things, I continued to learn more with repetition over the years 2) I find some finance people to be extremists and seem to push people to trust their strategy without establishing their own in depth understanding first 3) there are many different strategies and ultimately you’ll want to pick and choose what works best for you!

I’m in the same boat and have the same background. We should connect if you’re open to it!

Thanks for asking this question! One thing ive had to learn is make sure to take into consideration what the things people are suggesting are created for. Sometimes when people put age to a number its a bummer (esp when youre around your coworkers / peers) since the generational wealth and knowledge just isnt there

Does anyone have a name for what I'm looking for? Essentially, I'm looking for a resource to give to clients that really need to assess their current benefits and pay structure (and pay equity) in comparison to other organizations in the market and to provide the results and a roadmap of how to get where they need to be in order to retain and attract talent. Something like an HR Turnaround Consultant but I'm sure there is a better name?

I’m thinking about going in house like many attorneys right now. I’ve been practicing 10 years doing commercial real estate with a concentration in hospitality. I don’t want to give up the hospitality practice but I’m not sure I want to make partner at the large firm I’m at. Curious about people’s experience moving in house. Best way to apply (recruiter?) Pay cuts? Work life balance? Benefits? I can’t seem to get noticed at the larger companies who have generic resume dumps. Thanks!
