As a junior, should we still be overworked and underpaid in 2020? But also given COVID, does it all come down to ‘take what you can get?’

if you're having problems with overworking talk to your resource manager or take some time off. There is an idea of "paying your dues" when you're young but this is an exceptional year and, odds are, your managers don't get what kind of toll this may be taking on you

OP, this is a disheartening post but I’m not going to lie... I’ve thought the same. Right now, surviving is hard enough. If you can talk to your managers (creative or project manager) about lightening the workload, I’d start there. See if you can at least lower the number of projects you’re on. As for being underpaid, depends on how your agency is recovering right now. Some are getting closer to no more furloughs. Doesn’t hurt to reach out to recruiters, network, and see if another opportunity arises (aka more $) though!

So.. my husband and I live across the country from my family, including my young nieces. We haven’t seen them since before COVID and are not seeing anyone inside who is not vaccinated in our life, and this has not been a problem. We made a plan to vacation with my family to see them again this summer. My BIL is refusing to get vaccinated. Everyone else is vaccinated. My parents and sister aren’t happy about it but feel there is nothing they can do.

Genuine question as I wanted to know is it strange for someone to want to switch to advisory from tax. Would it be difficult for someone to transition from that position? I understand that they are too completely different work but similar fields. Also wanted to know what’s the day to day basis like for advisory during covid and in general

Interviewing at McKinsey from a big 4 consulting firm - currently an engagement manager interviewing for an engagement manager role on the partner track - comp at big 4 is currently $165k base, what’s a reasonable amount to ask for at mck? I got an Ivy League exec mba in 2020 as well, which hasn’t yet been reflected in my big 4 comp (we mostly didn’t do raises because of covid last year). Trying to understand how much higher mck might be willing to go?

HELP! Roommate is being insistent on not allowing either of us to go out due to covid (except for groceries). We live in Chicago, and phase 4 is starting in a few wks meaning most places will re-open with limited capacity. I’m not trying to go crazy here and hit up every club/restaurant/public place. But I’d like to enjoy a meal out or a small gathering at a friend’s place, things like that (w/ all proper precautions in place) but roommate is not cool with it -how to approach?

What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too

here's my prediction. If Biden wins, the media will begin to message the following; -The worst COVID risks and outcomes are to people with identifiable risk factors such as obesity and diabetes. -Most other people who catch it will experience a bad flu. -Many other people who catch it won't even know they have it. -It's not commonly transmitted by touching objects and person to person transmittal is low risk except in close contact. The media will then message that we should; (cont'd)
