A Superintendent presented (not hers) and told this room full of new teachers, “Real teachers get to school at 7:00 am and go home at 8:00 pm.” Really?? As a veteran teacher of 26 years, I was appalled! Makes sense why new teachers are leaving the classroom in their first five years and why we have a teacher shortage in Illinois with those type of expectations.

How long did it take you to become effortless at Figma? I am trying to tackle the advanced sections in 15 days. I am really great graphic ui design with Figma. I know how to make auto-layouts such as structuring, responsive text boxes and buttons and constraints on grids and columns. I also understand basic variants and I can follow Figma enough to work to tutorials. My process of using the meat (auto layout and variants) of Figma isn’t effortless as I’d like. Is this doable? 15-30 days?

One company informed me that I could just share my website bc I will be creating a ppt for the a case study OR I can use a ppt to present my portfolio. What’s the going rate for a UX copywriter in San Francisco?

I'm struggling to get my team in Figma organized. Are there particular strategies your teams use to do this? We use Jira for project management, SDLC, etc. I think the biggest gap is managing snapshots of designs that are geared to specific cards in Jira. I also find it very hard to find particular designs within the project itself. Any best practices would be greatly appreciated. In the past I haven't had to be as hands-on in the design team, so plenty for me to learn.

UX/Product designers at large companies, what has your experience been like? I work for a mid-sized company but it’s a lot bigger than my previous companies. I feel like everything I work on has to go through so many different people and by the time it’s finalized I feel like the design doesn’t even feel like mine anymore. People also seem to overthink every little design decision which causes things to move so slowly. Do you guys have the same experience at a large company?

So long story short. I’ve never done a UX position full time it has always been a part of my role at the last 2 roles I’ve had. My recruiter said I’m considered a low-mid range UX designer and I got my first offer at 89k. Should I try to negotiate or do you guys feel that’s a great starting point. BTW it’s for a large bank company.
