There’s no such thing. I can promise you that if someone is dying and the SM needs to connect with you about it ASAP, they will IM or call you. Don’t psyche yourself out LOL

This is going to depend on the senior manager you’re working with. Some have a stick up their ass and others aren’t micromanagers who don’t expect an email within the minute.

@OP: General rule of thumb (IMO) is that you should be responding to REQUESTS in a timely manner (whether this is an actual request for a deliverable or if your SM is just asking you to confirm something), which is by EOD when the email arrives in your inbox. This serves two purposes: 1) it can be a simple reply to the SM (or whomever) that you acknowledge the email and you are aligned on the ask or 2) you were able to deliver on the ask by EOD and you’re providing the final answer / solution. I think there can be many instances in which responding to an email within 24 hours is OK, too...as long as the email isn’t marked “High Importance” or something else urgent...All that said, I think setting expectations with the people you work with - either as a subordinate or as a joint collaborator is key. Make sure people know other ways you can be reached if they urgently need you or have a quick question. It’s fine to say shoot me a text or call me (if that’s your decision).

I'd say 2-4 hours but understand if it's more once in a while.
I also read all my emails ASAP and prioritize them based on urgency ... most of the time😉
