It's either going to be the best thing or worst thing that happens to humanity. I don't like to make coin flips at the species level.
Even today in 2020 I don't know if people are necessarily happier than in the past. There are trade offs to anything.
I read patents like Microsoft's implantable microchip that mines crypto for the person based on successfully completing tasks. Reminds me of Just In Time.
Call me a cynic, but I think technology has been used to make inequality and subjugation of the people more efficient.

Andrew Ng is the man! His ML course on Coursera is so amazing and such a good way to democratise knowledge on ML that has traditionally been so obscure to outsiders.

No clue thus the question. There was a paper a few years back on simulated annealing that made them sound promising. No clue where that landed.
What would the objective be? If there is a single consciousness what would it interact with? Search for life amongst the cosmos for all eternity? Answer questions? Create infinitely micro simulations?
Ahhhh yes the simulacra.
Another topic for discussion: IF you believe we will reach the event horizon/singularity and future conscious beings (flesh bag free) get so bored they decide to recall our ancient consciousness (online footprint) just so they can interact with us and learn of simpler time, what do you think you should be doing now to make your rendering much greater than the average 2000’s human? Personally, I’d start tracking more of my daily body movements, journaling, pictures, videos all to social media.
Also obvious I’m self medicating and watching WAY too many YouTube videos LOL
