I’ve been on the agency side for 20yrs and brand side for the last 10. I’ve found brand actually values experience and doesn’t believe I stopped being creative after a certain age.
CD for me — looking to go brand side after I have a few agency CD years under my belt.
Same. I’m brand side now. Love it.

I think it’s less of a position and more of reaching a mentality. If you can’t stand agency side much longer, I’d make the jump as soon as possible. Are you tired of the hours? Work not getting made? Constant desperation to please client? Would you rather be in the building with client? I don’t think there are rules of “should” around it. I think if you feel the itch, you should listen to it.
I think it's more about an optimal position so once you make a jump, your ducks are lined up. For example, jumping to brand side as a junior/mid level with 4 produced pieces in your portfolio might screw you over vs a CD with a well balanced book/resume.
