You’re entry level... You don’t really have a career yet. Going above and beyond what benefits you is a great way to get noticed.
When you're that new-- you have no idea what's gonna benefit your career. Do it ALL. Become a student of the business and learn. Like a sponge, absorb everything you can. Later you earned the right to discern beneficial from wasteful.
Is there is value in the mentors/firm/training, pay your dues. If you don’t see the value in what you’re paying your dues for, find a different place where there is value
Impressing people with your willingness to do work while proactively seeking out mentors/doing work you’re very interested in will go a long way towards getting you and your good and positive attitude noticed.
Everything is valuable and everything is part of paying your dues if the person asking you to do it needs it done. When I have asked someone to do a menial task like copying or faxing or data entry it's because I need it done. If you were fused to do it and they have to do it them self it will make them angry and see you in a negative light
If the work needs to be done but nobody really wants to do it we share it... i.e. Shredding... if it's work that is truly a waste of time... why would anyone do it?
