As an experienced hire at BCG, is 1 year too short of a stint to have an impact on exit ops?

1.5 years in a boutique made a world of difference for my exit ops into biotech

From BCG it's probably more important to show a promotion rather than a specific amount of time

like

I have 2 YOE in LS. What kind of background do you need for biotech? And what are the interviews/offers like?

You have it on your resume which helps, but depending on the role may not be enough to get a dream exit. Especially if you’re more junior. One year at BCG, isn’t enough to completely WOW a hiring manager, but if you were there for 3 years for example I can assume you’ve done a wide variety of cases and see that you got promoted so you were thriving at BCG, etc

likesmart

Probably also depends on what you did before and what you want to do. If you have an LS background and did a year at BCG and other time elsewhere, idk why you wouldn’t be able to land a strong LS exit. Your YOE and how you tell your story might matter more than the MBB name anyway, though of course everything helps.

Now, if you’re trying to pivot to faang product mgmt or something where you’re banking entirely on the prestige to carry you in as a very smart individual who will need to learn everything on the job then that could be a lot harder. Would make sense that you’d need to show some real thriving before someone would take that chance on you.

As an experienced hire, one year is definitely doable.

London folk, question for you: do firms and offices in London not recruit candidates directly? The station I work at is down at least 15 positions. Some jobs have been open for two years.

The remaining staff is required to step up.

Additional positions are opening up as contracts are either broken or expire.

How are people able to keep their mental health up when their station isn’t hiring people they need and refuse to pay living wages to potential prospects or promote those remaining?

Reading through some possible interview questions for FAANG. One of the ones I've seen on Glassdoor are to design a basic architecture structure for something like Netflix or Twitter or Spotify. I've been researching online using AWS or GCP (still learning all the moving parts of architecture). Any advice on how the setup would be? I'm assuming you'd start with some Load Balancers. For Netflix maybe have different different APIs for signing up vs scrolling through possible movies?

Need help evaluating an offer. Currently at BCG a few months away from promotion to Consultant (post-MBA role, but I don’t have an MBA). Comp at BCG would be $200-$225k ish. Have a tech offer that’s remote in strategy. Really love the company and the team, but all in comp including equity is $170k, so would be a pretty big hit. Would love everyone’s thoughts on this kind of offer in general for someone in my position and how to think through remote as a benefit.
