Well I bet if more Americans had a home other than the US that they could go to (and more cultural awareness and less fear of the unknown) they would do the same… I will admit that for immigrants of color today… life in the US (depending on where you live) is just a little bit better than in other Anglosaxan and Western European nations where there are some real unique flavors of racism.
I find it dumbfounding that fellow immigrants can move to this country, enjoy all of the amazing wonder that this country has to offer, and somehow not understand that it's not arbitrary. Please do not force your preferences on the United States. Please leave
Think of it like relationship, if you consider it your own and love it, then you’ll nurture and grow the relationship to see it thrive. If you don’t, then you just walk out and leave. Most immigrants don’t just walk out and leave. Secondly, your post perpetuates the idea that immigrants can’t have any preferences on a place where they live and pay taxes in and that if they have a differing opinion/critique that they should leave. That’s some dangerous rhetoric used in xenophobic and racist messaging.
I will give my opinion but it probably isn’t worth much. I put gun enthusiasts into the same bucket as car and sports enthusiasts (some use them for collections and some use them as sport). If you are not raised or don’t end up in one of these buckets then you aren’t going to understand why people love guns, cars or sports so much. That is why it is easy for a lot of democrats to say just ban guns, b/c they weren’t brought up in a way that guns mattered. They view them as a deadly force instead of a collection/interest or sport. Many people associate universal healthcare w socialism. America is based upon freedom. So anything that resembles socialism or lack of freedom is going to get shot down by both Dems and Repubs. Education is too political. Ever since no child left behind, there has been too much interference in the classroom. Teachers can’t teach anymore. Combine that with poor politics for underserved communities and it’s bad. You have to pay for a good education now which is sad.

Very solid rundown here

For what it’s worth, I completely agree with you and I was born here. Can we at least get universal mental healthcare? I’ve seriously considered moving to Canada.

Read the Frazier institute study. If you want to die waiting for treatment to save some money, be my guest. If you want to wait months for Gall bladder surgery, bless you. That is a unique torture I would not wish on my worst enemies. The emphasis is not on you in socialized medicine, it’s on the government fisc.
Born and raised here- 30 some odd years later. I too and bewildered by the gun culture and the disregard for others’ education and healthcare.
Weird I think the guns are a plus! I’d have to sell mine if I moved abroad lol
Pro
Exactly BCG1. The privilege of freedom is only appreciated by those who come from places that lack it
Felt the same and then moved to the Nordics. Best decision ever. It’s not until you’re here that you realize how efficiently the social system works while also providing financial stability.

I'd leave too.

Curious where you all want to move to. (I’m not living in the States and have no desire because of the same points you mentioned.)
May I ask where you immigrated from? I’m a first gen.
Where did you come from? It matters
Exactly
You do you! If going back gives you the happiness, it’s worth it! Priorities change as we grow and perhaps this is your calling now! All the best!
I can certainly relate to this. I’ve been in the States for a decade and been wanting to move. Not sure where to, but would love to try
i’m not sure i understand ‘i cannot wrap my mind around ….. the emphasis on education’. is this a bad thing?
