As an incoming BTA at Deloitte with an assigned home office as Atlanta. Would it be out of line for me to ask to switch offices before my start date (July)? Thinking of asking to move to Chicago.

No harm in asking for it. Say it's for personal/ family reasons :)

I did this at IBM. Was hired for Charlotte, but lived in Boston and told them I was not able to move to Charlotte. No issue getting it switched.

like

Depends on your role. Should be easy if you're in one that requires frequent travel

Can’t speak for Deloitte directly, but I know people who have done this at Accenture and IBM and it wasn’t an issue (assuming they have the headcount for one more in Chicago). It seems like you’d be asking with enough advance notice, and the worst thing they can do is say no

like

Yeah I think it’s just an issue of whether they have enough resources for another analyst in Chicago. I’d go for it, since you don’t start for a few more months

I would talk to your recruiter ASAP to find out. For BTAs you get to rank your #1 and 2 office locations and they place you by what you rank. Know a lot of people who got their #1 office request. It really is if they have space, everyone’s been placed now.

Absolutely you should ask, wouldn’t think it’s a big deal

Just remember early start BTAs already started (they will tech be in your same class) Atlanta isn’t bad for BTAs it’s got a good technology network, it was one of my second choices.

For those of you that left big 4 accounting to do MBA, did you leave at Senior level (3-4 YOE) or at the Manager level (5 YOE). I would assume to leave at manager level would be more ideal as when you come back to the workforce you should at the very least be ready to come in at manager or above at your next job? Thoughts?

Did I mess up my first round? Recruiter set up team match call. I haven’t had any other interviews. I didn’t have much in the description so focused my initial interest on program management (that was the title of the interviewer). Turns out role is more strat and ops. I have experience in both (more strat) but interviewer said to think on where I want to focus as he has openings for both types of roles. I’m worried I messed up because I said I wanted to do program management…

I was interviewing for McKinsey in the defense and security industry (clearance needed) and thought I did absolutely great on the first business case. The second, however, was with a principal that had very different political views from my own (I’d done some research on her LinkedIn). The business case felt different from any others that I had studied and felt like an attempt to get political without directly doing so. I was quickly rejected following the 2nd interview. Should I try reapplying?

My team has started ignoring my messages. I’m not sure what I did; I’ve been getting good feedback on my performance, I don’t message excessively often, and I don’t think I’ve done anything to cause social discomfort. The project is busy, but honestly workloads have been lighter than they used to be because we brought in additional resources, so that doesn’t explain the shift in communication styles. I used to feel like a useful team member but now I feel like an annoyance. What should I do?

Does your baby drink more milk when away from you? I am WFH and pumping and breastfeeding. Sometimes nanny gives baby the bottle and then baby wants / sees me and nurses after. I pump afterwards but only get like 1 oz (since she drank a full bottle). So basically, baby needed another 4 oz on top of breastfeeding. On the weekend baby drinks from me and doesn’t need more milk. Baby is 10 months. I have a freezer stash but don’t want to reduce supply too much.
