Why are you looking at people who walk past your seat? Just get down to your business and ignore the passerby - problem solved. Think of it this way - they’re looking back at you because you’re clearing staring at them too ;)
To comment on your point, I think south Asians in general have this habit of staring people. They will stare any average white person. When it comes to staring at desis, they will try to evaluate you by staring. The culture is such in our part of the world.
agree 100%. brown people stare at other brown people instinctively. walk down oak tree rd, devon st, or any other little india and you know what i mean.
You literally are at the front of the plane, everyone sees you as you walk in. Everyone checks out first class. You aren’t looked at because you’re brown, you’re looked at because your rich and literally on display. Confirmation bias at its finest.
Personal rant, shit like this is what divides us more than necessary.
Fob
Cuz you are an animal, you sexy first class lookin beast you!
Happy to oblige 😇
They look at your with pride and admiration. You have made it to the top!
Unless they realize you are a glorified slave with Big 4
Indians and their curious glances. It's a cultural problem, it ain't you. Think about how often have you done it yourself, whether in a plane or elsewhere
Ummmm I get the same from white people. Why is a brown young guy sitting in first class?
i feel they think I'm a terrorist. especially if i haven't shaven for a couple of days.
don't look at them. looks like you are checking people who are in same class you are in
Exactly
all in your mind bro/sis!!
Or maybe you feel like that when an Indian is passing by.
Okay I think I understand why this happens. For a lot of us doing regular IT jobs, it seems fancy that someone will buy a ticket for first class splurging all that money. I have heard from people that they would rather save that money than to enjoy a few hours on a flight.
It’s only after you start traveling that you realize how the whole thing works. So, coming back to your question, I think either they are awed or disgusted by your obscene display of wealth🤣 I laugh sometimes when someone stares at me because I am sitting in first class. Bet the convo at home goes like kids these days.....
Not really. You would be surprised that most of us think they have purchased that ticket.
How do you know other desis are giving you those stares?
I have faced it in top notch hotels. I think maybe they are surprised that a brown color immigrant looking about 24-25 is having this life. I mentioned 24-25 because I’m 26 and it has happened a lot with me and my other team mates on the project of about the same age.
@M2. Not hotel management but the other guests at hotel in the lounge.
Imagine what i go through as an Indian F 🤷♀️
And the uncles too
I buy my first class seats while traveling on vacations etc, and know plenty of people who do. Also all my work flights are paid for and not upgraded, so not sure why you guys think most first class seats are upgrades...
SC1- if you are part of 75K mile program, and your current flight is longer than 3 hours, then you can buy a business class ticket.. I am not sure that’s there for everyone, but PWC has it..
Looks like you’re talking about Amtrak!! Coz in flights, economy class passengers aren’t allowed to enter business class section, forget about first class.
Uh? Err in US carriers when boarding the plane, economy passengers have to pass through business class to get to economy. This is also true of many international flights
Personally I do not look at any first class riders while I make my way to my economy seat, just so I don't give them the satisfaction!!
I used to get the looks from white people too. ( was in consulting 10 year ago ) looks like things haven’t changed much.
I had an uncle stare at me when I was on the tread mill the other day. He was not even aware that he was staring. I later saw him on the treadmill so I assumed he was taking pointers.
This again! Just go one with your life and ignore the stares.
