is it a red flag to you if your decently sized mid law firm has never once mentioned pro bono opportunities? we don’t have any kind of diversity initiative either and obviously i know how i feel about THAT. but was wondering how weird this part of it is.
It blows my mind how much kinder and more supportive the members of this group are than the Big Law group and the Law group more generally. Like men really are trash, huh? Currently in a play on ATOS that might be interesting for some. It’s a biotech with its primary drug being endoxifen aimed at treatment for breast cancer. Company has no debt and $138M in cash. It’s been announced to be included in the Russell 2K so there will be a predictable movement of ETF inclusion close to June 25. It also still has a high short interest so potentially for shorts to be blown out. I’m currently in 25k shares @ 3.35 holding into the 25th. My price target is $20. Diversity Pattern I keep noticing: pitch decks/campaigns. Half of the photos are of white people.. and the other half are black. No indian, hispanic, muslim & asian representation. It feels incredibly unbalanced. 🧐
I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.

Applying to industry after 2 yrs in a data-heavy strategy consulting role, and running into an odd problem: people are automatically putting me into a "heavy-quant" box and becoming apprehensive of my fit for a business role (strategy, FP&A, etc). 2 Qs: 1. My husband wants to name our son after his brother who he loves a lot .i am so pissed that he yelled at me when I am 6 months pregnant and unable to do anything , will be the one going through labor just to have my son my BILs name as first name , my husbands name as middle name and last name of his family. FYI- me and BIL live in different countries and I have spoken to him handful of times over phone and that’s it . He doesn’t want to discuss any other names anymore.
Pregnant and in first trim with severe nausea. Was put on a team that is super understaffed and have hard deadlines like every week as the client is going through diff transactions. Partner says I can log off whenever I need but Sr manage keeps pushing work to my plate and asking why work is not finished. How could I deal with the situation? Tax savvy people, i have questions. my employer reduced everyones salary during the first 6 months of covid, but offered a “bonus” (aka back to normal rate) if you were required to travel during this time. How will the temporary salary cut + travel bonus affect my filing? Idk I’m feeling petty

I have multiple client projects. One client talks a lot and keeps going over slotted meeting times. I am frustrated because I can’t find a good way to cut the client off and move to my next meeting.
