How you like dem AAPLs?
Guys I really need your advice. I accepted the offer from CTS on call for a different location. I will never relocate. Should I resign based on this offer. What's the probability I will get new offer in 3 months notice period. If on formal offer once generated by CTS on email, I deny will they consider me for my current location? Initially in all my email communication they denied my current location and I had no choice other than to accept the offer for a different location. Cognizant

That’s not EY policy, that’s US federal law…. Not even US citizens are allowed to work from outside their borders. EY can track your location via remoteconnect VPN.

Pwc allows us to work outside the country remote for 4 weeks. I believe This is a new rule to allow people to go home to see their families. I’ve used it and it’s amazing to do that (time zone sucks though)
I can confirm what SM1 is not accurate. I’ve done this with formal engagement team and hr approval for a total of 6 weeks - this was with PwC though, I would think you could follow the same protocol at EY
Yes, that’s what I’ve heard too. But if pwc can, they should definitely let us work aboard too..
I’m not sure about Big 4 rules but I know my friend in industry worked from India for 5 months.
SM1 is correct though, just like how we all have to get OPT or EAD or work visas here to work for an US firm on American soil.
Don’t risk it, not worth it. Take off and enjoy time with family or really work with HR and the immigration to confirm that you’re bullet proof before charging any time.
McK allows 30 days a year.
I don’t think there are any federal laws prohibiting you from working outside the US however taxation might be an issue.
I also wanted to do the same when I went home for two weeks and they couldn’t allow me to work abroad due to tax reasons. At EY I don’t think there’s any other way than to just take the days off unfortunately.
USC can work from India, why can’t an H1b work from India? Isn’t it same for tax purposes?
You owe income taxes and EY owes corporate taxes, payroll taxes, etc. in India if you “work” from India. Business travel is good and there are lots of grey areas. However EY does not want to take a risk and do a case by case analysis. Hence the zero tolerance policy
