Not traveling? You lucky fox. I'll trade places with you; much rather be at home...
Ambassador for Marriott, Explat for AA, GS for UA.
Would be great to see my girlfriend more.
It's a rat race. Does a bump in status really mean that much to you guys?
If you are close to hitting the next level, sure, pile on those mileage runs/stays.
Don't get caught up. Being home and having a life is worth more than a free bottle of water, 100 more sq. feet, and upgrades for a three hour flight.
And I’m trying to contemplate if the final 3 months can get me the added status needed and/or is it worth paying out of pocket for mileage runs and or hotel nights.
For context, I’m not on a project that’s conducive to travel every week(which I personally enjoy). I know this next month and a half only has me on the road for one week.
OP, what programs and levels? I don't fly as much as I used to, so am leveraging a few hacks this year.
Marriott is allowing Platinum for 25 stays in SPG brands this year (rather than 50 nights), so that's an easy one to win if you book each night separately. You may need to switch hotels to be safe, but haven't seen back-to-back stays being joined.
Instead of direct flights, I've resorted to taking the long way around. For example, flying United SFO > MSP, I'll connect in EWR to get extra PQM. Sucks, but when it.works for my schedule, I can collect quite a few extra miles at the cost of travel time.
I’m Marriott/SPG and delta. At I have 55 nights for hotels and that’ll get me ok status but it’s a far cry from my ambassador status I enjoy this year. For flights, I’ll have a ton of segments but my mileage is really low. As it stands I’ll barely make gold after been platinum for the past few years. I’m probably overly worried about something that’s dumb and beyond my control, but I do get a sense of pride from my statuses. Along with it helping to fund personal travel.
@M1, I’m tempted to do same. It’s really sad that I’d possibly inconvenience myself if it meant getting to that next level.
Traveling noob here. What happens to your status with AA & SPG at the end of the year?
