At the risk of sounding totally dumb, are holiday bonuses a thing? I know I am eligible for a fiscal year end bonus in March, but not sure if holiday bonuses are to be expected. Obviously it depends on the firm, but just curious if there’s a general norm.

Hi All! I have a valid & stamped H1 until Mar'22. Planning a vacation to home country (India) in Nov/Dec as I don't have to worry about getting it stamped. My employer would probably file for extension sometime in Nov. I guess I'm still ok to return to the US on my current Visa/797? There's a chance the extension might get approved during my stay there & I might not get that new 797 mailed to me. Can that create an issue in immigration if I just show the current stamp/797? TIA!!!

Have taken an unpaid leave to spend time/vacation with family in my home country. It’s caused an issue with my manager which is making me anxious and depressed. How can I compartmentalize my anxiety and be present with family for the next few weeks before going back to the office?

I’ve been totally buried in work for the last 2.5ish months and it’s taken a toll on me. I’m feeling very burned out, to the point where my productivity has tapered off over the past two weeks and I’m no longer able to bill the hours I want. I genuinely try, but at a certain point each day (usually around 6.5 hours) I just feel like I can’t do it anymore. My family is urging me to take PTO to recharge, but I’m too scared about losing more hours to actually do it. Does anyone have any advice?

A friend is pushing really hard to recruit me coming in as a Manager at Deloitte but I have some concerns: 1. 5.5 weeks of PTO 2. Bonus payouts close to 40K 3. Base salary for managers starting out at $155 4. Good work life balance (I call BS on this one) 5. Great culture. No up and out culture? 6. Rank managers based on a scattered plot 7. $25 signing bonus Deloitte laid off a bunch of people last year and now are saying they had their best year ever? Any insight will be appreciated.

Good morning, Salesforce! I know this is a pretty general ask but could anyone who works in Finance at Salesforce shed some light on work life balance in the org? How often do you find yourself working on the weekends? Do you actually get to use your vacation?

Got an offer for a job that will start in February of 2022. I’m planning on giving my 2 weeks soon and taking a 2-3 month break before the next position starts to just relax and take some time off. I’m young now (mid 20s) and I don’t think I’ll get a chance to take several months off between jobs again after this. Will this gap in employment be a potential issue down the road? I may be thinking too much into this, but would like some advice. TIA

If putting in your notice while on PTO/bench, would you propose that the last day be the last date of your PTO (given it’s more than 2 weeks away)? Or sooner / 2 weeks from now?

Crispin has layoffs a couple of weeks ago. They announced it at a virtual town hall. The CEO did the usual “good people, hard to see them go” routine. Can’t help but feel invisible in my current situation- I’ve been pursuing a transfer for over a year (within my same group) and even though I’ve repeatedly asked for help and pulled in directors and partners —I keep getting pawned off to different people. This has cost me a promotion this year although I’m a high performer and my pay is at the high end of my bracket. Meanwhile, white colleagues are getting promoted each year (unheard of). I am told that i’m getting paid well so to be ‘happy’

My dad passed away 10 years ago.He was a “good”dad while alive (not the best husband). I spent lot of my youth/adult life fixing his mistakes after he died, which weren’t mine to fix. While I have tried to forgive him for myself, the relationship with his memory is complicated. Our family friends (husband and wife) who really were there for us in every sense after his death came to visit. That “uncle” is the closest thing to a father that I have. Today, I really wished he had been my father.
