Adequate staffing, fewer weekends/holidays with seniority, holding all team members accountable, managerial support with difficult patients/issues.
PTO that's sellable and doesn't expire. Let me carry 400 hrs if I want. Let me sell it for my rate if I don't want to take it.
Honor my PTO requests with a 2 months notice.
A stipend for any gym I want would be cool too
Stipend for certifications/ advanced degrees. Valuable training and recognition. Dental and/or vision premiums covered. Health benefits that are *Actually* good and start day 1. 401k match 1=1 up to a % starting day 1. more PTO and gym stipend is always welcomed. As much as I love food, it’s never a selling point and I’d rather have a strong leader who encourages growth.
Very well said.
Offer the higher level training you promised when I was first hired.
Stop hiring new staff at a paygrade higher than me, but I'm still having to train them and walk them step by step after 6+ months.
Don't say I can't be promoted/ transfer to another dept because I need the credentials but then not offer to help for credentials either, all while still performing at a 4/5 (*because there's always room for improvement...*)
Realistic daily metrics, meals
Addl PTO is the main reason im looking to leave the dental office im currently at. 5 days a year isnt enough. Ensuring enough staff is available is crucial as well
Realistic metrics due to no one phone call is the same as the next, more PTO would be amazing!
A manageable caseload in community mental health where not drowning trying to meet productivity.
Ample time off (I currently get about 6 weeks a year and it’s one of the largest perks keeping me with my employer).
Flexible work hours and location (remote).
Sufficient (minimum 12 wks) paid maternity leave. Even if I never need paid maternity leave again I believe that when an employer offers this benefit it says a LOT about their values and I want to work for an employer that values the need for birthing parents to heal and bond with their children.
I’d love for the higher ups to finally understand what my workgroup does, the amount of time it takes to do our tasks and realize that some of the more mundane tasks need to go to other departments so that we can do what we do best more efficiently.
For example, I have to look at hundreds of invoices every year in order to determine how many hours are reported for our contracted staff.
Would it really be so hard to input hours for each invoice when AP processes them, since there is a field for UNITS available?
It would also be beneficial if we actually had a REAL accounting department as opposed to some data entry clerks in Manila that Accenture manages. Our G/L has been a mess now for 4 years.
And when there’s a major conversion in our ERP, which impacts our accounting, supply chain and HR systems, if my workgroup asks for things to be posted to the G/L in a certain way that ensures continuity in how the expenses and revenues flow, DO IT! I have had to waste so many hours this year because our instructions were ignored.
TL:DR - when the team I’m on makes requests, make sure they’re done properly, especially when our team is responsible for making sure that 35-40% of the organization’s revenue continues to flow to the organization. Delegate mundane tasks to other departments that are handling the data anyways. Make sure that if you offshore tasks, the firm that is performing the task for you is able to do it properly.

Communication and listening to staff when they make recommendations. Especially when exec leadership has zero experience in the area being discussed.
All the perks are nice but the main reason I’m unhappy isn’t because of fringe benefits. It’s not being heard and concerns going unaddressed.
You’re not the only one there.
I don’t know whether to say “I’m glad it’s not just me,” or be sad that it’s not just one healthcare organization that doesn’t get it…
Meals always seem to excite staff, REMOTE flexibility, treats from management, gym memberships are a great idea.
I think if you polled healthcare staff they would overwhelmingly tell you a meal ain’t going to cut it. This mentality is part of the problem.
The aides who take care of my mom in law are comfortable coming to me to talk about this, and my hubby doesn't get this because he's not medical. Their agency is very disrespectful to the good conscientious workers, who are wanted at other homes too, so they try moving them around, spreading them thin not letting them have a specific case schedule. Now they are having high turnover rates. And ending up with more lazy staff onboarding. So we are trying our best to keep it desirable for the staff on our behalf. Make it easier, giving them the tools they need.
We have given gift cards for coffee bought soda they like, pizza for meals with them etc.. we have seen the communication (or lack thereof) the agency has with them and us
It would be amazing at my job if they paid us overtime or got us lunch on the 4 days we worked through lunch during the week.

That's such bs you don't get overtime
On-site childcare/daycare and that it would be open early enough in the morning and late enough in the evening to be able to work my full day. So much of my daily stress revolves around trying to arrive on time after daycare drop off immediately after the center opens and then trying to get to pickup before they close. Hospital work hours are not compatible with childcare center hours which makes my professional and personal life incredibly stressful.
