Amex people thoughts on this offer, as I have recently(4 months back) joined a startup with Base(33) and CTC(35.5) but not enjoying the work here. Amex brand tag and culture is good.
Hence, considering the offer, does this offer look good or is there any scope of improvement? Amex American Express

You should also ditch the 1.5% Capital One card and get the 2% cashback Citi DoubleCash
By ditch, I mean stop using (assuming you get the DoubleCash). Agreed that there is no reason to cancel a card that doesn't have an annual fee
Reserve. Fyi, the travel credit can be used for gas station and grocery purchases (including instacart) through at least December 31, 2020. Overall, I spend enough on food to make the card worth it. And each point can be redeemed for 1.5 cent value in food and grocery spend anyway, vs 1.25 for preferred.
Due to the $300 credit, the $550 fee is more like $250. It is worth it for me so far because of how much I spend on food and groceries, but is admittedly not as great of a deal as it was when I was traveling for client work before the pandemic. Model out your own breakeven. Here's a relevant article. It is a few months old, so might not capture some changes since April. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/by-the-numbers-sapphire-preferred-vs-sapphire-reserve/
reserve. may i rwfer
I like the preferred just bc I wouldn’t use the travel credit (FYI- it can be used for Uber/Lyft so that’s a big plus). Happy to refer you!
Thanks D1 :)
Why not get both if you're eligible for the signup offer?
Cool, I also have a ton of their cards too.
What is your goal?
TBH, with travel not really viable, go with CSP and bank as many points as possible. After you hit you minimum on CSP, consider opening a cobranded Chase card. After you make it through the Chase lineup and hit 5/24, move on to Citi or Capital One. Then eventually go towards Amex. The game is won by churning sign up bonuses.
