Tie. No tie isn’t a negative per se but wearing one tells me you at least plan ahead enough to never be underdressed, which is a lot worse than being overdressed.

like

I interview people and honestly couldn’t care less other than finding suit + tie a little awkward / uncomfortable-looking when it’s obvious the interviewee isn’t used to the outfit. Wear what you’ll feel comfortable in and good luck :)

Choosing is beta behaviour! DOMINATE your virtual interview by first rejecting their zoom invite and sending them your teams invite instead, then you tell them what YOUR dress code is like as an alpha. Good luck!

With tie also. Make sure the interviewers know how hard it was to tie it with your tiny arms.

No tie. Didn't wear a tie in any interview. Landed offers at all consulting firms I applied to including an MBB

like

I'll add that the dress code for virtual interviews was said to be business casual. I did wear a sports coat though

like

I feel obligated to dress up a bit, then get interviewed by guys in hoodies (repeatedly). I’m female and I draw the line at a suit jacket for a zoom interview.

They should ask the recruiter who setup the interview

I went full suit and tie - secured multiple offers

like

When they put me in virtual lobby I noticed I was the only one to even have a blazer/ suit jacket on. Unsure if it was necessary but I wanted to present myself 100%

like

No tie. Maybe a suite jacket for final round. Everyone dresses down for zoom interviews.

Nobody cares, it's all about your performance end of the day.

Sometimes I wear a tie and sometimes I don't. Got offers in both scenarios.

Tie w the first button slightly loosened. Trust me. Landed me offers

You better put on that tie.

Scenario, interviewing a candidate that has great experience for the role however candidate has a lot of tattoos. Nothing crazy or derogatory, would you pass on him/her? Not a customer service job either. Specially manufacturing…. Have you ever passed on a candidate because of tattoos?

As the interview went well.

How much time they will take to give the feedback as we have a long weekend now

I’m currently at a medium sized tech startup. I was interviewing for a role that would be a bump in pay and title at a multinational public F50 company. At first, the hiring manager and head of legal were very complementary about my experience. Almost too much so. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..

I got laid off in January and have been trying to find a new job since. I keep making it to the phone interview and sometimes a second interview, but always get ghosted. It’s so disheartening.

I have too much experience for an internship, and I have too little to be the top choice for copywriter roles. I know I’m a good writer, I know what I’m capable of, but it’s so exhausting trying to convince people. They always like my book but it’s never enough to get the gig. What can I do?

I am interviewing for a new IT Manager position. I started putting out soft feelers and then hit the hunt harder. The problem: I have one offer and need to give an answer by next Wednesday. I have two other opportunities that are in final steps but probably won’t have offers by next Wednesday. Both of the other offers will be higher pay but clearly are uncertain for offers. Do I accept the offer I have, which is a good one or wait for the other two to finalize and possibly miss out altogether?

H1B visa stamped.

While applying for visa my company quoted 80K as compensation. Now they want to reduce it to 75K.

This feels like unfair practice. Is it common? What should be my approach?

Is it a good idea to tell your manager intentions of leaving?

Recently had my review and it didn’t go how I expected. No raise, no promotion. I expressed disappointment but took the criticism I was given to reach my goal in 6 months or a year.

However, there are a number of issues that bother me enough where I want to move on.

The team I am on is small and I know that when I leave, they’ll have a lot on their hands. I only have a couple of interviews scheduled and nothing is solid yet.
