She is already but nothing really concrete yet. She’s getting a good pay with benefits but it is not worth doing the work of 3 people.

When new work comes in, ask the boss, what do you want me to stop doing to accommodate this new request. Let him choose and prioritize. Let him have ownership and skin in the game.

Steps: 1. Document in writing (email) that she has asked her boss for backfill numerous times and has been rebuffed. 2. Ask the boss' boss. If that will cause blowback and make the situation worse, then... 3. Get a new job elsewhere.

Been severely struggling with depression and anxiety lately. Obviously this job is one big reason why. I opened up to the partner a few months back about it when I started missing random days when I couldn’t get out of bed. Maybe 2/3 days over the last 4 months total. I need out of M&A. I like the people, I like the work, I even like most of the clients, but my health can’t take the fire drills. Currently on on a day where I literally got back from A&E and I’m probably going to work overnight on a closing (and no, it’s neither the partners’ nor clients’ fault, this is government dictated). We have resource but nobody with enough deal knowledge so it’s two people trying to get everything out while two first years wait on our instructions but can’t do much.

So far I’ve been through 1 IVF cycle. I have one embryo that is frozen waiting for transfer. My doctor is wanting me to do another round of IVF to back eggs for baby number two down the road. Has anyone been through this? I know of two people around my age that got pregnant naturally with their second baby after IVF. Does anyone know about banking embryos for future use instead of transferring? My insurance doesn’t cover anything so all this of out of pocket.

I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.

So today I was promoted to senior associate after just over 5 years at the firm. But I still want to leave. So my question is this - how many months should I stay for the guilt (explained below) to fade away before I leave? Guilt - the firm allowed me to work remotely in another country as I pursue a postgraduate degree. There are better opportunities in this country and the salary I would get as a starting salary here can never be matched by the firm.
