When you have a vivid dream about someone in the office (beyond PG) and can't help but wonder if they know
Honest post, if you’re not going RIA i believe you’re wasting your time. Low payouts, heightened compliance, fewer options for clients. Indy B/D’s or conventional, you’re working for someone else.
Received a buyout offer but thinking of turning it down to recruit for more growth oriented roles as that’s where my real interests lie. Any thoughts on starting a career in buyout vs. directly in growth?

We continue to underbid and understaff many of our projects and as a result overwork our staff to keep our delivery on time and budget. I get it, we need to get our foot in the door and beat our competitors. How do we avoid this situation and still stay in the game ?
How do you deal with being an introvert at an MBB?
I see such a strong bond among my colleagues but I feel left out.
At the end of the day, I just want to go home to my family. Does that mean post work dinner/drinks are a compulsion to be made to feel included?
Currently asking around for others that work in the hospitality industry specifically banquets or banquet serving what is the tip pool break down at your hotel servers, captain, houseman, house percentage do you think your paid fairly from the tip pool?
Hi! I just graduated college in December and have been working as analyst at a small boutique recruiting firm for less than a year. In the time I have been with the company it has become clear that the team is over worked, stressed, and unhappy. The people I work with are great people and it is a great team but if a whole team is unhappy how effective can we be? I don't feel like I have any authority to bring it up to our cheif of staff so what should I do?
What is the difference between a Business Architect and an Enterprise Architect at Salesforce?
This is going to be one of many reaction posts to LinkedIn I would post directly on LinkedIn if recruiters didn’t dismiss healthy discussion and “potential future flies in their ointment.” Fishbowl can become the safe space to have the discussions we could never have without the veil of anonymity protecting our careers until we are powerful enough to risk job loss.
If I could reply to this I’d have said (read comment)

Studies have shown Men and Women's brains are different. Is there anything that really helped you learn coding (such as python)? I am starting to pick up on it, but not grasping the language as fast as I would like.

I'm thinking about applying for 2 new bars because I will or want to have business in those states. I don't want to appear pro hac for different reasons mostly I have enough business. What are my concerns with becoming a member of 3 bars besides dues? Looks like CLE's will likely overlap. So it's just the application.
How many non-billable hours do you bill per year? Do they count towards your goal and bonus?
I’m very interested in trying to find my way in to government relations work. There aren’t really any options for this where I currently live, and I am about three hours from my State’s capital city. I’m also settling in with a fiancé and new house so I’m not looking to relocate. Would it be worth reaching out to govt relations firms and offering myself as a remote employee? Or maybe remote a couple days a week? Or am I not really in the position to ask without any intention of relocating?

HELP! I accepted an offer last week to join a firm starting on Monday. And I received a much, much better offer today. How bad would it be to renege?
I feel like my billable hourly rate is way too low. I know I’m only a second year at a boutique firm but for some clients I’m billed at only $175. I also have an MBA - am I crazy to think my hour should be “worth” more?
The CA Board of Examiners came out today saying they're not only proceeding with the bar exam online in October, but they're also lowering the minimum passage score permanently, whether future administrations are in-person or online.
As a CA attorney, there's some level at which this is annoying, but more than that, concerning.
Personally, I think the online exam is one thing. Although there's a chance that a good majority of people will have some little acronyms and notes written that...
Any chance for a 4th year in a niche transactional practice to lateral to Big Law from Midlaw with a GPA below a 3.0 from a school outside of the T14? (Practice is healthcare M&A based in NY, GPA was 2.8 from a regional school ranked top 60)
Hi all, I’m looking for advice on transitioning legal areas. Is networking the way to do this? Should I just apply for roles in the area? I have no post law school experience in the area.
I took the UBE this past July for a second state. I didn’t think it was that hard. While a Freind of mine who’s 100x smarter than me thought she failed it. I’m starting to wonder if I under thought it.
That moment when your "smart" plan to boost your hours this month by working the Labor Day weekend (thus turning down all the fun plans your friends made) becomes sitting on your hands & feeling dumb because all the partners are too busy to delegate anything. The worst kind of "off" day is one you planned to /wanted to work, but there's no billable work...
The clients that always nitpick the bill are the same clients that will ignore you all week and then respond at 2:30 on a Friday and say they’re available for a call at 5 pm. Change my mind.
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I think that long-arm statutes are terrible for our system. You shouldn't be able to file in the state that you live in. As a policy matter, I feel the default should always be where the defendant lives unless the contract states otherwise.
Perhaps a spicy take: signature pages are much more substantive than people are willing to admit. You need to understand structure, authority (and whether it’s granted by the operating agreement or by resolution), local recording requirements (for us RE folks), and all sorts of other information like notice addresses that a paralegal or admin likely doesn’t have handy. Most of the time when “something as easy as signature pages” is staffed out, that person is not set us for success.
