I’m surprised no one’s said Germany. Every time I’ve been there, I’ve thought to myself what a nice place it is: efficient, clean, great infrastructure, good work opportunities + a culture of work/life balance, good food, not too expensive, centrally-located in Europe with direct flights anywhere. Of course, it’s hard (impossible?) to get a good job without speaking German, but language is no barrier. (For reference I’ve also lived in another European country, the Middle East, mainland China and the US. Was most underwhelmed by the US.)
I’ve been there. Germans are sssooo efficient in everything they do! I loved it. Every process just made sense. My perfectionist anxiety didn’t pop up once. 💕 Efficient, clean and modern. That’s Germany.
There is a wealthy upper middle class / lower upper class concentrated on the Coasts that really doesn’t exist in any other country to a large scale (the top tech, consulting, finance, law, and doctors get paid more here than almost anywhere else). I’m talking about the $400k+ households that populate much of the nicer suburbs of NYC, Chicago, SF, LA, DC, etc. but below the ultra-wealthy, .1% households. As someone, who like many on this app falls in that demographic, life is pretty damn good. Live in a fantastic school district, a comfortable large house with amenities most countries don’t offer, have almost 0 crime, great infrastructure, a diverse and vibrant food scene, lots of outdoor activities, and phenomenal healthcare. Having seen a lot of Asia and Europe, I don’t think this wealthy suburban life exists to the same magnitude. The Us is the best place to be rich or close to it (in the top 10-15%) and you see that in most metrics for just that segment (longer lifespan, higher income, etc) that are better than almost all of Europe and Asia. You have none of the issues (healthcare, retirement savings, public transport, homeless population) and only the pros.
You’re right. For a middle class family to have access to an automatic car, safe housing, supermarkets, clean water, education, entertainment and rights as citizens already puts us in the top 10%.

America tbh unless your a Saudi prince. But if you’re just normal then def America
My 'n of 4' first-hand experiences (wife, siblings, and I) would strongly indicate that social mobility is very doable in the US. Each of us came from low earning, immigrant single moms to get educations from top universities and each went on to 6 and 7 figure jobs. Have seen plenty of other examples of this among my peers. Also, last I checked there are millions of people lining up to move to this country every year to create a better life, which seems to be evidence of people voting with their feet.
As a Singaporean, I’m very surprised by the answers in this thread. I’d vote China.
KPMG5 did you seriously say the US has slavery?
Norway
D17 I just liked it 🤷🏻♀️ I lived in Oslo for almost a year in my 20s. I felt like it was easy for me to mesh quickly with the everyday social life. The nature is beautiful, insanely so. The weather doesn’t really bother me (Chicago is colder than Oslo, and Boston is gloomier). It is expensive, super expensive. There isn’t a wild nightlife scene like in Berlin, and there isn’t an amazing food scene like in London/England. It’s not for everyone. There are tough things about every country, but norway is somewhere where I can see the big picture “return on life investment” being really high for me personally. Close second, maybe even tied, for me is Germany. Then again, I love New York and maybe I could just live in New York forever! Saying norway was truly just an answer first.
A Scandinavian country for sure

Lol C2 have you heard of skiing? Winters are amazing in Norway.
European countries, The Netherlands def!
I also second the Netherlands. I don't want to leave the EU, I like the working culture, great cheese and waffles. My major con is that everyone will be so much taller than me...
Finland just made a 4 day/6 hr work week. That sounds nice to me
If I'm not wrong they already have that in Denmark. Also, your boss gets mad at you if you work overtime LOL
I am an immigrant to USA. There is not another country that comes even close to USA. Truth be told!

IBM2 there are long lines there because the line to the US is even longer. 18 years and counting …
Any country is best country if you have money
PWC 6 - in Australia/NZ/western Europe/Britain and Canada I can have both. It is not a question of either/or. In Australia and I am pretty sure in Europe as well, my child is not threatened by gun violence. I personally wouldn’t live in America because of the disappearance of the middle class…. And Asia doesn’t have a stable middle class base. I exclude Taiwan, Japan and South Korea from these… again women don’t have the same rights or privileges.
Patna, Bihar, india
As an Indian - Patna Bihar probably was stated facetiously by someone from there. There are very few places in India I would recommend relative to other options globally, in terms of quality of infrastructure and resources. However - your money will go a loooong way especially in remote parts of India like Patna!
China. I do speak some Chinese, so languish isn’t really a barrier for me, but it’s a barrier for my partner. I love the energy in the city, the wide variety of food, and the freedom. Yes, you heard me right, the freedom. It’s actually way more tolerant of homo than here.
The vax mandates are being pushed in order to cultivate the social credit system here in the US. Once the mandates are in place and become digital, we will already have the platform to implement it and those who dont know any better will be begging for it

Don’t compare Palo Alto to the rest of the country. I can get a free test done at a neighborhood lab here in Ohio. We have drive in testing as well - super convenient.
Democratic republic of the congo
Now someone got it right here, if you know you know

India, truly miss my family and friends. I’m afraid I’ve grown estranged and just a visitor when I go back
@A1 Meh if you have money you can live a first world quality life with all the perks in any of the T1 metros (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, etc) - now if you don’t have money like most people then totally agree. It’s the same as what applies for most of Asia (sans Singapore, Japan, etc) tbh although obviously the median in India is lower than China.

América or Spain. I love the Spanish culture

Spanish bilingual keyboard come through!!!
Japan of course. Acknowledging the long working hours, pretty safe, amazing food, fun people, lots of entertainment, most efficient transport system and compared to other developed countries the cost of living is pretty fair.
Lived there 3 years. Honestly way better overall than my time living in Europe and the East Coast US.
- The USA if you’re highly motivated, more intelligent than the average person, and value your individual wealth/individual happiness over collective solidarity - Otherwise, take your pick of one of the Nordic nations
America or England obviously. All of Europe except England; and most of canada; and most of Australia are back to Covid restrictions (like bars closed) with many countries (Netherlands, austria) in full lockdown. Even if I was rich there’s no way I would want to live in a country with endless Covid rules for years on end!
