I’ve been in my position and office for 3 years and recently found out offices were being taken away if you didn’t have a director title. I am working toward my director title but that’s probably a year out. Our office is currently hybrid but my boss has me coming in 5 days a week and now I’ll be sharing an office with a few of my direct reports. How do I approach this with my boss as this seems like an issue where I can’t have private conversations with my direct reports, etc?

I'm an experienced Generalist/HRBP for an extremely high volume/large org. I have a masters in HROD and SHRM-CP. My role is getting to be more and more transactional by the day, all my strategic projects get pushed to the side by the endless daily fires that are, inevitably, tracking down employees and data entry. This is a payment question. freelance, 1099, corp-to-corp, etc. The creative agency insists that everyone has to be on payroll. Is this because it’s a creative role and not production? Anyone?

Advice on holding/selling: I started investing last year, mostly in index funds but also in ETFs of sectors I believe most in (renewables, hydrogen, biotech). These of course did great then terrible… I still think there will be huge investment in these in coming years but now understand how overvalued they were when I got in. Is it worth holding on despite 20-30 percent losses, or are even worse times ahead/will get eaten up by fees? Lesson learned to not overindex on growth…

I was having a conversation with a good friend I went to law school with. We both have been in private practice for 30+ years. Does anyone else’s spouse give them a hard time about wanting to work from home or taking a half day? Are trial court clerkships a good way to get litigation exposure? I have minimal responsibilities outside myself and could afford to live on the peanuts they pay judicial clerks in pa for a year or two. It's something I kinda wanted to try although I'm about two years out. I currently work in a legal adjacent job bc I got fired and was wondering if judicial clerkship would be a way to help employers overlook that. Any former trial clerks here? Was it beneficial? Depends on goal or judge?

Poll: did you frame your bar license scroll(s)? What about court admissions? I just got a license scroll from a new jurisdiction and I’m not sure what to do with it. I did not frame my other two and with three degrees, three licensures, and several federal court admissions, I’m think my office wall is going to look a bit absurd.
