From what I’ve heard you won’t easily climb the ranks in industry, and won’t likely make c suite without an MBA. Any other big 4 is going to be the same, but you might find yourself happier doing strat even if you are still very busy. Upward progression is just faster at big 4 and you pay the price with your WLB
Is MBA needed even when you have a cpa? I thought the it was pretty much redunant to have both
I know of a manager and senior manager (worked on IT assurance) who went to another big four for transaction strategy. They had to drop a level in title (the manager went in as senior associate and the senior manager as manager) but I would assume they did not take a pay it as transactions pays more. You might have to drop a level in title but I would go with B4. Industry doesn’t offer the upward mobility to get you there fast enough.
Yep, in the same process now was asked to drop down a title. If you are thinking F&PA. Fdd is the way to go for a couple years and C suite level. Salary is expected to be 20% more than your peer in the same position so even if you join as Manager you are likely to make the same salary or little more. They also promote quicker in advisory so if you perform well after a year they will promote you to SM and if you are a high performer you can also get from SM to Director in a year so that you are back on track. I am in the process and all the folks I spoke with at the Director, SM and Manager are back on track.
To make a switch like that T10 MBA is really the only option.
If you have strong analytics skillset (tableau, SQL, python, power BI, etc) you could potentially make a switch but will have t down level. I actually just made this switch as an assurance senior 2.
But I think your best bet is move into Transaction advisory/FDD, as they often hire from audit, and will open up a whole new world of exit opportunities
FP&A mostly, investment banking, PE (rare but possible) but you could also pivot to m&a consulting
