At 63, I am nearing the tail end of my paralegal career. After 20 years in litigation, I presently have a good job, my own office, and I am respected and appreciated. I've grown tired of the billables. I am looking for my next step, but cannot afford a cut in pay. Where can I apply my highly transferable skills? All leads appreciated.

Can you be a paralegal manager? Usually no billable for that. Other firms might value your 20 years.

Currently not a resident of CA, but will be in September. Accepted an in house job based in CA (will be remote until then). CA bar website says I must be a CA resident to waive into the in house program. I called the office and was told I don’t have to be a CA resident.

Can anyone provide insight on whether I have to be a CA resident to waive into the CA bar as in house counsel? Planning to sit for one of the next 2 administrations of the bar, but would like to have this until then. TIA!
