How is the life and work culture in the exl?
I have a separate room for my office; I know not everyone has that luxury, but for me my mental health depends on being able to create the feeling of work and "home" being separate. Some people create this feeling in smaller spaces with room partitions.
This....I used to travel to office exactly for this.
Moved from my tiny studio in NYC to a 3BR Philadelphia at the start of 2021 and having the ability to repurpose one of those rooms into an office has been a game changer. Being able to leave my work behind in there works wonders. Also the fact that I was paying $2430 in NYC and now pay $1750 helps as well! 😁

Great area and good deal- I’m in Malvern.
5bdr house w 4 people so renovated one bdr into a home office. It was gorgeous, too, until my husband moved his work crap in during covid. Love him, but want my office back.
We actually have 5 bdr for 4 ppl. We don’t “need” them, but it’s just a really common home size and configuration for my area. My husband and I use the master, each kid has a bedroom, one room is the office, and one is a guest room where we also keep a rowing machine and store holiday decor in the closets.
I live in Texas where we don’t have basements so the larger square footages aren’t as extraneous as one might think.
My desk is at your mom's house
Spare bedroom. If my desk was in my room I would nap all day long. I need separation.
Yeah same. Spare bedroom. I have a Jack and Jill style layout so one of them is my bedroom and the other is used as as an office. Although I also have a desk in my bedroom from when we first moved in, but it’s mainly just used for storage now
Walk-in Closet
My wife does this too. True story. Many times to hide from our 8 yr old who bugs here during virtual school breaks 🤣
In my daughter’s room. 🤣🤣 my bacground is pink and full of dolls.

Have it in my dining room. Live alone, though.

I have a desk in my bedroom but also have those lap desks, bc sometimes it's easier working from bed
We have a three bedroom town home and 2/3 rooms are now offices - likely will stay this way as we really only has guests like 1-2 times per year.
Yeah, most people over do it on guest rooms.
So many people buy more house than they need so they can have a guest room... And then guests come once a year or less and you could put them up in a luxury hotel for less than the extra you are paying in mortgage.
I've looked into some Murphy bed desk solutions. That seems better than dedicated guest space. You can give them a real bed for the 5% of the year they are present, but have a true office space the rest of the year.
