Nope, do kick counts instead. Doppler can give false sense of wrong or reassurance. Kick counts and feeling baby’s patterns will give you a better measure of distress.

So my sister in law gave me hers otherwise I probably wouldn’t of bought one. It was nice to have the ability to check early on but I didn’t do it too much.
First of all, not everyone has success finding heartbeat and that can be more anxiety inducing than reassuring. My cousin for example could never find it on hers but it didn’t mean anything more than that. If you’re an anxious person, I’d avoid it.
My OB said not to do it frequently because it’s like another “intervention” that they don’t know how harmful it really is. I don’t know if he just said that so I don’t get paranoid and use it often or if there’s truly a concern about the sound or whatnot.
Either way, I did use it in the beginning maybe weekly or biweekly but once I started feeling movements, I stopped since the movements are just as reassuring.
I was in the same boat where I couldn’t feel kicks, and had anxiety. I’m now 24 weeks and the kicks are non stop. Hang in there :) you’ll feel them soon enough
I looked into it and found mixed reviews. A friend of mine who had one said it actually gave her more anxiety and advised against it. She said that early on, there were a few times where she couldn’t find the heartbeat and panicked and went to the doc / ER. Her baby is a healthy 2 month old now. Knowing I am prone to being anxious as-is, I chose not to get one after hearing her experiences. YMMV.
Thanks! 13 weeks along and in the limbo stage where I’m starting to feel a lot better but can’t feel kicks yet so thinking about something to help with my anxiety (had a loss previously).
I remember being there not long ago, I was extremely anxious about practically no symptoms and no kicks. I honestly booked an ultrasound at 16 weeks with a boutique place just to peek in and check on him lol. They can’t diagnose anything but you can see their heart and kicks, Best wishes to you!!!
