I've been struggling since February to get my WFH setup in a way that works for me. I live in a 2br apartment with my partner so clearing the extra bedroom of distractions (we used it as a video and tabletop gaming room) was an easy choice. Unfortunately my productivity is much lower than it ever was at the office. I don't really get distracted at home, but I'm not getting as much done either. Anyone else still stuck like this? My company doesn't provide budget for home office either :/

Should I pull the trigger and apply to another job. I’ve been at big 4 for a little over a year now and I don’t see myself staying until manager, possibly not even senior. I never was super ecstatic about the job, but it has gotten worse since WFH began. Another job opportunity appeared closer to my home with the potential of a $10K+ pay increase.

Best WFH desk to purchase? With the WFH grind looking permanent for the foreseeable future, I think it’s time to (somewhat) splurge on a nice desk for my office. Right now My setup is a laptop, and two 32 inch monitors. I don’t absolutely need standing desk capabilities, as I have adjustable platforms for my computer and monitors, but a nice hybrid desk would still be convenient. Any recommendations from my fellow accountants?

For others who work in government counsel or in house counsel office roles, do y’all have any advice on how best to handle lack of communication with the non-attorney staff you advise during wfh? I keep checking in on certain groups I advise that I don’t hear from anymore and am trying to not be too pushy, but it seems like either they aren’t getting work done or they are just not asking for legal consult on things that require a consult.

Been looking for an exit since January because I don’t like the direction my position has been going. Covid screwed it up, but what gives with companies not allowing a candidate to live in any city when the travel is 80-100%? I’m not going to be home so why does it matter where I live? I’m 30 minutes from an airport and I can be anywhere in the US within 5 hours with no issue. Anyone have any suggestions to overcome this without moving?
