At most how long can you stay in bench? I had joined in Sept and then I was in a project for 3 months. Then I am on bench for last one month. Does staying too long on bench affect probation and ratings?

Got staffed 3rd day of joining, bench is deep. Not sure if they just need someone or if it's really a good opportunity. What are questions to ask? Was told it's great to launch career here.
