At the post-MBA/VP level, how common or easy is it to transition into a strategy / leadership / P&L role in industry? If I do post-MBA PE, it that going to determine the rest of my career or are those options still open? Realize PE is a great career, but just trying to understand.

Would love some advice / thoughts. I went straight from law school to a corporate legal department in house for an asset manager. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). I can’t shake certain people (in compliance department mainly) thinking I don’t have enough experience to do what I do because I didn’t come from a law firm. Any advice?

A large part of my job involves building models or making reports that involve copying numbers from one document to another. Sometimes, if I get interrupted, I lose my train of thought and make mistakes in getting the right number. Typically what fund size do you need to target to get $225k+ in total comp (base+bonus) as a 1Y Associate? HH’s are mentioning sub-200k salaries to me across all opportunities coming my way, LMM funds ($600M-$2B).

How can I try to get into VC? Particularly tough tech and things like robotics, automation, transportation, etc. I’m currently at T2 consulting in industrials and I’ve tried networking with a few VC firms in this space, but no luck.
