We will be able to fire Tesla Nukes. We're good.

Huh? An asteroid ☄️??? Did I miss some news?

I’m gonna be really pissed if that happens. I spent the last three months dieting and lost 40lbs. No fun food or drinks, while that’s all everyone else was doing. Only to now have an asteroid hit us and kill me and my new great bod? Of course this is how my life would end.

Coming from Africa, I started my own practice in my country 2 years ago while having my full time job with Deloitte (discussed with my partner). With the demand I have many clients now and managing both is killing me, I know I should leave. The problem now becomes that I like my boss so much, he did a lot of my career and was always supportive. He's 68 and planning to retire soon and should make me partner by the next 2 yrs. I am lost 😭 and stuck to make a clear decision. Any help ?

So, at my workplace (university), we're essentially eliminating any full-time position if it's not currently filled. Which, I get it...we're going into a retrenchment period...but I think someone to run the tutoring center (for example) is one of those positions we might want to fill and not eliminate, you know? Anyone else running into situations like this? Are you feeling the recession pressure?

Hi all, looking for a good platform to facilitate a virtual workshop. Pre-Covid in the office, we'd cover the whiteboards, flipcharts, stickies, the usual. I'm really struggling to figure out a good way to mimic this kind of freeform brainstorming virtually. Any suggestions??

I hate it here. Can we start a thread of goodness that is 100% not political? Tell me something that’s happening in your life or in the world at large that is truly good.

Does anyone else hate the trend on LinkedIn where people are posting very irrelevant things? It might be dumb advice, sickeningly optimistic posts about “normalizing something” that is outside of anyones control, or wisdom from their 2 year old that never actually happened. I used to like LinkedIn because posts were relevant and interesting. Maybe I’m just not with it… I used to be, but then they changed what “it” was. And now what I’m with isn’t “it”. And what’s “it” seems weird and scary to me

BIG QUESTION: what is one specific part of your job/career that you wished people you work with understood to make working together easier?

And what about people outside your job?

Hello. Does anybody know about the Portfolio Management Senior Associate role at Bank of America Private Bank? I currently work at Morgan Stanley as a Registered Associate. I was hoping someone would have insights on working at the Bank of America private bank. Salary range would be $100-110k plus bonuses. Thanks in advance.

I started working for a company a few months ago and my working hours have been crazy. It has now gotten to a point where it takes a serious toll on my mental and physical health. I’m constantly expected to pull 50-hour weeks but I feel like even this isn’t enough. I’m under constant stress. Tried to flag to my manager a few times that my workload has been unbearable but I always get a hard push back. Should I jump ship and quit? Has anyone been in the same situation and has some good advice?

My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. Someone is telling me when you quit, on your file they put down re-hireable or not. Is that true? What is that decisions based on?

I was under the impression that during a background check only Dates of Employment and Title are checked.

Word of warning, check your employee handbook about unused PTO. Apparently in New York State, even with labor laws protecting unpaid PTO, if it’s written in any employee handbook or material that unused PTO is waived when you quit, that‘s all the employer has to do to get out of paying you.

Does anyone else think that the US should take the herd immunity approach? It'd get us out of the lockdown really quickly and experts are predicting that the death rate would only be 0.65% so very low. I feel that the economy has suffered so much that maybe we should at this point
