30 and my steady state weight went up 10-15lbs
Same
I’m 28 and started seriously strength training in the past year and am finally seeing some abs that I never had before... hoping I can get down to my ideal body fat % before my metabolism slows down
Mostly paleo. No gluten, no sugar, no dairy (at the suggestion of my gastroenterologist for different reasons than weight-loss). I used to go out on weekends, drink 5-7 vodka sodas, and end the night with pizza and thought I could out-train that during the week. Safe to say I was wrong.
I'm 22.5 and already feeling getting old...
When I started being very stressed, at age 24
I’d blame lockdown
39 and takes everything to stay at my ideal weight. Prior to this, it took no effort and I did not put a lot of thought into what i ate. I’ll say Iv always exercised and ate clean but it’s now on another level
40. Basically had to limit drinking, watch what I ate and exercise 4-5x per week just to maintain my weight.
When “old” hit me this year, it ran me over like a freight train. I try to workout everyday and eat healthy. The wrinkles, the slight weight gain, grey hair and memory loss. Ughhh
22 lol
I’m 24F and feel like I’m barely keeping up 😭 this thread does not make me feel hopeful
For sure 40.. up until 39 I could yo-yo 10-15lbs up or down very easily... now it goes on no problem.. off, not so much.

Hot damn you’ve some great genes
Lol. 50
30 here 🙋🏻♀️ definitely a slow down!! Ramping up the workout game and cut down on dessert
When I graduated college I gained weight due to commuting/desk job/happy hours/whatever. I’ll chalk that bit to behavior based. I would say I’m decently healthy (work out 4-5 times a week, eat consciously, try and walk as much as possible, drink tons of water) but when I turned 29 there was a switch. I now can’t lose weight or put on muscle without extreme effort and diligence. I feel “softer” overall and like it won’t go away so trying to accept it.
I'm 37 now and my body has never been in better shape.
56 here, youngbloods :) - first slowdown hit me at around 30 and the next around 50. I’ve always exercised and paid (some) attention to food but I still kept gaining weight….particularly when I moved to the US the first time (I grew up in Europe) So in my mid-late 30-es I signed up for Atkins…and dropped 25-30 pounds effortlessly. But, later, moving to SE Asia it was difficult to keep up the same mostly protein diet (I love every Asian cuisine and food there is so much better than the processed food you find in the US, generally speaking) so weight crept back on me. Also, had kids and travelled extensively - none are too conducive to stick to routines/ Eventually moved back the US, back to Europe and back to the US again - point is the ever shifting context made it difficult to create consistency in nutrition and exercise. I changed my life at 50: I started long distance running … form scratch. Never ran, actually always hated it. But a bout of depression made me discover the amazing impact of natural serotonins, (a.k.a. runners’ high) and never looked back. I dropped 30 pounds in 6 months and now I run a half marathon pretty much every other Sunday and do weekly 40-70 miles. I stopped moving around too, which helps with routines, but still travel intensively (pre-COVID, obviously) but I now plan my trips around my running routine. (not that difficult). To be able to do this weekly mileage I need to get up at 4.45am every morning, start my run pre/post dawn and I’m done with it in time to catch the train or first confcall. It also makes me go to bed early, and be asleep, by 10.00pm the latest. It also changed my approach to nutrition: I can literally feel during my runs if I’m not treating my body well. Mind you, the two biggest challenges in endurance sports are nutrition (so it is natural) and mental resilience. The latter, interestingly, gets better with age, and perhaps an even bigger benefit than weight loss. Most importantly: all this may sound like a chore…but it isn’t. It is not the effort you may think it is as I really learnd to love long-distance runs. Of course it helps that kids are now independent (the youngest is 16) so my lifestage is a good fit. But - for me - it not only reversed weight gain but made me significantly more resilient both physically and mentally: I am never sick, never injured, never out of my balance, I am motivated and easily control my temper but still competitive. TBH not sure this would be the same if I had started running earlier - it almost feels like a form of execrise better for for this lifestage. Now, off to my 10mile run - this is my ‘down day’ before my solo marathon attempt next Sunday. Wish me luck :)
