500k at 31 which is great but I still feel like I’ll never be able to afford a house in my area (~1M). My money is pretty much 50% 401k 50% investments.
put 6K into my roth IRA, just want to dump it into a few ETFs and forget about it until i’m old and wrinkly - what should i go with? VOO? QQQ? thank you in advance for helping me retire!!
When rolling over 401k from ACN, did y’all have to call Alight to mail the check? I tried doing it online and they are sending me to a rollover central site that is asking for a lot of info.
if i just changed jobs (for the first time) and want to rollover my 401k to an IRA, should i do a traditional 401k or roth? mid-20s so early in my career if that matters?
Looking for some direction. Just finished paying off my law school debt. I'm 29 years old. $40k in taxable brokerage account, $15k emergency fund (3.5 months), $20k in 401k. In September I'm starting a new job that will pay me $200k which doubles my current salary. Will max my HSA, 401k etc. But should I be making Roth 401k contributions in this tax bracket?
One of our older advisors is about to retire so his book will be split amongst us junior advisors. What can I do to pitch myself to him and to management to earn the bigger accounts?
How much money is enough money? I know you’re probably raising an eyebrow at this question but I grew up in a financially unstable household and I never had talks with parents about money matters… grateful to have a salaried legal now job but am always wondering… when will it ever feel like there’s enough?
I left my BigLaw job earlier this year to take some time off and/or retire early. I now have an offer from an old colleague, now at a boutique, to write briefs on a contracting basis. We haven’t discussed pay yet—what would be a reasonable hourly rate to ask for?
New to investing, but want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I've maxed out my 401K and am looking to open an IRA. I know everyone recommends backdooring this into a Roth IRA, but if my plan is to move/retire to a state with no state income tax, wouldn't traditional make more sense? Or am I overthinking this? Also, if I go the backdoor route, how do I make sure I don't get taxed again, when i convert to a Roth? Thanks in advance!
This might be a dumb question but when folks say max out 401k contributions, do they mean the full 19.5k per year? I usually do the 5% to get my company match.
Does it make sense to do a mega backdoor into a Roth IRA if I already maxed out my $6k into Roth IRA AND my firm offers Roth 401k option? Thanks!
Anyone else nervous about the future and not being able to retire at a reasonable age. How do you determine how much you need for retirement? Late 30s family inc. is $200k planning on kids as well
Is anyone here a foreigner working in the US, and contributing to your 401(k)? Is it worth it if you don’t plan to retire here? Insights appreciated.
Deloitters; is pension vesting tracked by your start date or a certain time of year? And is an all or nothing vest? I might be leavening barely a month from my 3 year vesting mark.
I'm looking at moving to rollover my 401k in to something that supports BTC and alt coins. Any recommendations/ reviews on self directed IRA accounts out there that support crypto investments?
Best investment accounts if my firm doesn’t offer a 401K and I make too much to have a Roth IRA?
I am very conservative in investment. Have $650K in CDs/HYS, $50K in stock funds, and maxing out 401K. I have no debt except $520K of house mortgage @ 2.6% interest rate (house value is approx $1M). Does it make sense to pay out a portion of the mortgage or should I invest more in the market?
Not familiar with rollovers and need some insight please 1) old ey 401k rollover to Ira 2) old ey 401k rollover to new employer 401k New employer has great funds in their 401k so considering 2 so we can utilize compound growth...

Need suggestions and your views. Currently at Manager level in DUSI and just got 33% hike. Currently I am holding an offer from a boutique firm which is offering a much higher executive level and 30% hike over my current salary. But since this firm is pretty small and setting up new operations in India, little hesitant. What do you think fishes ?
Hey Fishes, Whats the salary range for a senior consultant at EY GDS. Its for GDS PAS WFA team, if it helps. Thanks.
Stupid question - but I’m interviewing for a job and have no public company audit experience - when a job is looking for someone with SOX experience, what are they referring to?
How valuable is having a B4 name on the resume? Currently at a boutique and have the option to join B4 (not KPMG) or industry. Industry would pay more for the first couple years. Wondering if B4 would be the better option for the long run
Any moms at kpmg take maternity leave around the time when a salary increase should be taking place (e.g. start your leave mid-september when comp increases is expect in October)? Is it worth pushing off those 4 STD weeks before the due date to get yourself the new salary before going on leave? Any other ways to get the higher salary while on leave? Does it take effect if youre using pto and not the parental leave (maybe save your primary parental leave for a day later or something)?
Has anyone with an ADA disability put in any notice to their company? I have one and my doctor is concerned I’m being pushed to the limit with the amount of work I have. Been working 70-80hr weeks if
Seattle 🐠 - what's your opinion of the South Lake Union neighborhood? Really like an apt for lease, but hesitating as there aren't many restaurant / grocery options within a 10-15 min walk 🤔
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
Need to talk with a Quebec licensed Attorney about a T and E issue. Client resides in New Jersey and has a Power of attorney for her mother in Quebec and is executrix of her mother’s estate under a notary will when she dies. There has been some discussion of setting up an inter vivos trust with distribution of the assets upon the settlors death. The current will is to be scrapped. I need to discuss the technical issues involved.

Want to take advantage of the hot consulting market and get into MBB ! I'm an experienced hire with around 4yrs of work exp. Anyone willing to connect and help me with some tips and eventually a referral if things work out? Thanks :)
Can someone explain how they prioritize IRA after hitting the income limit so it is no longer tax deductible? I believe it becomes lower priority than HSA and 401k. Thanks!
Hi y’all. So I haven’t technically onboarded for my firm yet, I’m suppose to start in 3 weeks. One of the projects I’m going to be put on requested to have a little interview with people of the team so I had mine today. The “interviewer” didn’t really seem to think I was qualified for this project at the end of the conversation (agree to disagree with him on that). Regardless, am I in trouble for not fitting his criteria/selling myself enough…kinda worried on my manager’s response….
Has anyone ever requested a weekend interview for a PE or credit fund shop? Are people amenable to that?
